Anybody who qualifies and wins a state final obviously plays NPL regularly and I don't think anybodys primary objective in playing is to make the states. Perhaps in week 9 and 10 but certainly not before that. People play because they love the social aspect of a card game and a few drinks at the pub with good people. And even if someone did all but give up for a season because they were already qualified, they're only 1 person I don't think it would be that big a deal. They still have to go back to qualify the next season, unless they go back to back!

Yeah I agree with everything said here Steve. Obviously if you win the state finals you play NPL regularly. My point was that you'd have less of an incentive to play every week because you've already made state finals - something the majority of players that play week in, week out, strive for.

Saying that.

WHAT THE F*CK YOU HAVENT MADE STATE FINALS (YET) HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE, THE WORLD ISNT RIGHT!!

Ahem.

I do my best work at the last minute ALK. Last season I needed to make final table at Savvy on the last Friday to get in and did it. Season before I did the same at the Hilton o n the last Saturday. What fun would it be if you had your spot stitched up with a couple of weeks to go :)

Hahaha you're kidding me. Nice work man.

Personally I prefer knowing I've made states a few weeks earlier (last 2 seasons, that was about week 6/7) :)

But that's just me.

I might have made it but it depends how sundays results go for me also. It's entirely possible 2 of my friends have unknowingly/unintentionally completely screwed me over

I think I need one of them to finish in a higher position at sundays venue (doesn't matter which one) which will bump me up enough to sneak in.

Yeah, um...sorry about that, Pete :)

Wow, the Laura & Pete show should add some extra excitement, now I'm made Swish my new venue for next season.

Ran into a few blokes I played with at Ambassadors before it closed, and we decided Swish was the place to be.

So you won't have it so easy next season

I don't know yet if I'll be there next season.

Changing jobs and will be on rotating shifts so will have to sit down and suss it out what nights I have free the most often.
