Postby JT » Fri Dec 07, 2007 12:21 pm

Went there last night ( the old spot ) - well done to Shannon who was the TD !!!

Didnt finish in the points but a good night was had.

If you finish early be careful about which part of the pub you go to have a drink in :o ;)

It already sounds like I should be avoiding the venue without hearing or seeing much about it :)

I have played at least 20 times there, and never have run into trouble, the staff are very friendly, and the food is exceptional.

I dont think comments about what bar you drink in if you finish early is relevent, and scaring off future players isnt fair to Shannon or the Venue itself.

in my opinion, the old spot in gawler is one of the highest quality venues i have played at. at the moment, there is around 30 players, and that is slowly growing again once the stamping situation got sorted out.

for a while there, they changed their stamping policy to $5 bucks a stamp, and that killed the amount of players by nearly half.

but to their credit, they listened to the players complaints, and they went back to 2 stamps for a pint, 1 for a schooner.

and now with them stamping all cards for a drink for the last couple of weeks, there is no excuse for everyone to give them a shot.

P.S no, i dont work for them, just like the place as it is really relaxed but at the same time not too many donks.

Hi there

Just to clear some confusion that may be in this thread...

I work the two venues, both named the Old Spot, one in Salisbury Heights on Thursdays and the other in Gawler on Monday nights.....whoever lets people name pubs the same??? lol.

Thanks to JT for the comment!!

Last Thursday, Gawler was struck by a massive power outage and players from the Kingsford in Gawler made the trek down to the Old Spot at Salisbury Heights. It was great to see them there, with some of the Kingy folk hitting the points and final table, however, Old Spot regulars took down 3, 2, and 1st position.

A fun night was had by all.

Let the good times play!!

Last night the manager of the pub stamped every ones card with out purchase - I think this was a fantastic gesture and my hat goes of to him.

Still had my usual 6 beers but it was great to see.

It was a very funny night with the crowd there last night as well and I forgotten the TDs name but well done and hope to see him there next week !!!

Take my hat off to him as well.... even if there is a strip show ;) Then again... I never originally asked if the 'Claytons' were male or female.

I am just trying to get my post levels up. I want to get to third!
But in all honesty, there was a rostering error last night and we all needed to make it up to players. The TD was Mark who rushed down there from Parra Hills. It was his first ever TD shift and he has only been working for a couple of weeks. Glad to hear he did well.
