What do you Think.

Postby gundog » Wed May 28, 2008 5:01 pm

I another part of the Forum players have admitted to being breatho'ed and some loosing their licence on the way home from NPL games.

My suggestion is rather than encourage players to fill both card by the end of the first break, lets try and streach it out and allow them to surrender cards up until the end of the 2nd break.

1. If you use a drinks card in the 1st session or break you get a 1000 chip up.

2. If you use a card during the 2nd session you get 1500, only if you have less than 1000 is chips.

3. Any drink card surrendered during the 2nd break you get 2000.

So based on the rule of thumb 2 standard drinks in the 1st hour and then 1 standard drink per hour after that should enable players to remain under or close to the .05 level.
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Its an ok idea gundog, but it could get complicated.

Solution: give stamps based on the size of the drink, not the alcoholness of it. For instance, why not give 1 stamp for schooner of beer/coke, 2 for a pint of beer/coke.

Correct me if im wrong learned forumers, but pubs would make at least as much cash selling a pint of coke compared to a pint of beer. Why not give punters the choice, 4 pints of beeer or 4 pints of coke.

Venue makes the same money, if not more as they might sell more coke, punters happy, nobody tries to blame NPL when they get done for DUI. Win win win. Or is that too simple?

I really like the idea, but 4 pints of post mix coke is going to make you real sick!!

At least 4 pints of a beer gives you a buzz before you feel real sick ;)

I agree with the idea of handing in of passports up til the second break.

Doesn't necessarily have to be 4 pints of coke, 2 beers and 2 cokes is what i would do if i could. Spare a thought for non-drinkers who cant make a meal having to drink 8 butchers of coke for 2 cards???

:o :o :o :o

lol, actually the halcion dakota/shannon days of the old spot in gawler are fond memories. When nobody knew too much for their own good, and when bennymacca had a reputation as a tight player and could make other people fold.

I find it's best to get the venue to give you the till slip when you buy all your drinks up front.

The Flying Club does a sheet with the players name and what they have to come and just cross it off as you get you drinks.

The Brahma (now defunct) took my advise and used the till receipts. So you could prebuy all your drinks and get your cards stamped up. When you want another drink you give them your receipt they cross it off and you get your receipt back for next time..

When you really think about it, it is the responsibility of the person not to drink so much so as to put themselves and others at risk on the road.

Granted, it doesn't help that you have to fill up your cards in quick order to get stamps to get the extra chips but it isn't mandatory to get those cards filled to play. As our own BigPete has shown, it is still possible to play without 'carding up' and still do quite well.

You don't HAVE to have a truckload of beers/alcohol in order to get your cards filled either. You can still get a meal and a couple of beers and STILL be under the legal limit for driving home safely. Get two meals at a venue that fills a complete card if you're really concerned.

Don't get me wrong... I dislike the 'irregularity' of the stamp system between venues as well but that is more the choice of the venue itself than anything else and it is done that way to maximize profit. You'll often find venues giving 3 stamps for a meal which still means you need to get at least 3 drinks (3x 2 stamp beers/2x 2 stamp beers and a coke) to card up instead of, say 2 beers if the meal granted you a full card -- which it should in my opinion.

And to nip all those naysayers in the butt, I too think that you should be able to get a softdrink for 2 stamps.
Will dance for your chips!
