Let's say there are three people, three generations (grandson/son/father).

Grandfather = Harold
Father = John
Son = Steven

So let's go through your riddle (and I use that term loosely)

Brothers and sister have I none, But this mans father is my fathers son.

"Brothers and sister have I none" - You are an only child.

"This mans father is my fathers son."

If BOB is right, then "This man" = JOHN :

This man's father = JOHN'S FATHER = HAROLD

"My father's son" = JOHN (since you are an only child)

So the sentence is saying "HAROLD IS JOHN"

Wrong.




Ok, let's say that JOHN is looking at a photo of his son.

"this mans father is my fathers son."

THIS MAN = STEVEN
THIS MANS FATHER = JOHN
MY FATHERS SON = JOHN

So I am saying JOHN = JOHN.
