Still not sure I understand the ruling as to why you can't do that. I don't get how that isn't just part of the bluffing game?

Say for example if QQ9 is on the table and you want to bluff and say you have a Q in your hand, but the other player who says nothing has QQ in their hand?

Wouldn't that just show you up as being a shocking bluffer?

A showdown is when betting has completed after the river, and cards are shown to see who wins - so there's not more betting - you either win or you don't.

You can't say "I have four of a kind" when you don't, so that the person you are against folds, thinking they have lost. You then show nothing at all.

Sorry, a showdown is anytime there is no more betting...

If you are all in after the flop, and someone calls, and there's no one else, that's a showdown... the cards decide who wins.

I'm pretty sure there was another thread recently were Garth suggested it was improper to say, definitively, "I have X", where "X" is your actual hand. It was said lying was just fine, or "I have hit", or "I've got a flush" was fine, but "I have 9c10h" wasn't on.

first of all, what was the third card on the flop, i dont see u mentioning that, did he have any draws at all?

also he called ur 4k pre-flop so hes got quite a bit of money in the pot already, u bet 4k on the flop, to me this just looks like a regulation c-bet, when ur betting 4k into a pot with over 8 u are probably wanting a call, now the 3 comes out so hes got something, u bet and he calls, u should of bet a lot more then 4k on the turn. Now river comes out giving him two pair, he checks hoping u would raise so u saved urself some money there, i would of paid to see ur face if he made a huge raise on the river lol

When i started this bit of the convo, i never said i was gonna say "i have 4 of a kind" totally saying the hand i dont...i was planning on saying can u beat "such n such" if they fold, they took me the wrong way n thought i had a better hand than what i imagined, when they fold, i would say, i couldnt beat it either since i have "such n such"
