Well this all depends.... the modern chicken as well all have come to known it came first in the form of an egg laid by something that was not a chicken. It was a mutant of another species and from that time forward chickens were brought into the world.

I like the river one: 8 people need to cross the river.

Dad, 2 Sons, Mum, 2 Daughters, Officer & Criminal girl.
The RULES are as follows:

1, Only two people can travel at once.

2, Daddy can not stay with the girls without the presence of the mother

3, Mum cant stay with the boys without the presence of the father

4, The criminal girl cannot stay with any of the family members

5, Only the Police officer and the parents can drive the boat across the river

Dad takes one son over, comes back. Takes the other son over, comes back. Mum comes with him, drops dad off and goes back. Mum takes one daughter over, comes back. Mum takes second daughter over, comes back. Police officer takes mum over, comes back and takes the criminal over. Criminal was left by herself and not with any family members. Is this the right solution????

Ondie is right, it was the egg. A chicken was created by two different species of bird mating with on another, thus creating a egg which hatched into a chicken. I've got a whole book on the subject if you're really interested in knowing
