Sigh, haha

Postby Shaun_DilliWilli » Wed Jun 04, 2008 1:57 pm

Had J 10 and its a family pot when blinds are 25 / 50 ...
J 7 4 the flop and i was under the gun, i raise 200...behind the button calls with K 3...Turn, K ...I seem to get done badly by people calling with an over card and they hit at Pooraka, and this guy was playing shit hands till he got out...

Another hand with him that i observered...
8 9 10 the flop, this guy as A 8...check calls all the way to the river, A K betting min or x2 BB flop n turn, but goes all in on river...btw, Turn was J, River Q...straight on the board, any King can take it, n A 8 calls the all in on the river..A K smashes him
U ask for my ID or say I'm underage and I'll take your chips when we meet at the poker table :P

Hate people calling high bets with Mid Pair...specially when im trying to bluff, gonna go emo soon n kill myself.

A part of the poker game is to also be able to quantify what type of opponent you are playing.

If you know a player is playing crap cards and calling down, then you play him with that type of mentality in mind.

Value betting when you hit a strong hand is a good idea, betting a marginal hand (such as top pair with a ten kicker) is still not bad but you have to know that your hand isn't the strongest and the potential to be outdrawn by a calling station is something that may arise.

In this circumstance, check when you would value bet or push, and then play more aggressively after the turn.

Still wouldnt normally expect someone to call with K 3, since everyone else folded it was obivious i was the only 1 with a J n normally would of just taken the pot on the flop...gotta pick my tables more carefully

You will get varied players and plays at any table.
In the BG region your table image would be different to Pooraka, a lot of people there would be saying who the hell is Shaun, whereas most people in the BG region know you on sight.

Yeah, that i think bout it...judging players i havent seen before would be hard, but can look for if they look serious, if they look drunk, bored or confused...but really it is the luck of the draw

Maybe you wouldn't expect a call with K3, but hey, what is to say your not c-betting your low pockets? Mind you, I'd expect him to raise at that point. Or he is waiting for the scare card???

Did he bet the K?

I had someone call my 4xBB raise last night with 72s - just for a laugh. When the board came 743, I thought my 55 was good. I pushed, and went broke. Not everyone plays good hands and plays them the same, correct, way every time. Poker sure would get boring if they did!

So true.

For example: Last night in our skittle game, 4 handed. Blinds 400/800.

Chip counts, and table positions:

Me, UTG: 9k.
Zack, no 1: 10k.
Dave, SB: 8k.
Shaun, BB: 13k.

I look down at A8 suited and raise it to 3000, 3xBB (plus 600). Zack insta raises to 8000. Dave and Shaun fold. I know that if I play this hand I'm pot committed, if I call I'm only left with around 1k, in BB for 800 next hand. Its either all in or fold.

I wonder what the hell Zack has to raise another 5k. A higher Ace? Pockets, maybe? Or absolutely nothing? After 5 minutes, I regretfully fold. Zack instantly starts laughing and shows 310 suited - or, "the monster." The monster is a running joke between my mates and I - I smashed QQ and AK with it once, and JD smashed JJ with it.

We rabbited (I smacked Dave when he did) and I would've hit my Ace on the flop, and took it down. Next hand I ended up with 95 in the BB, checked it, only to see a flop of K 9 5. I pushed all in and Zack called with 5 7. I won.

My point - poker would certainly be boring if everyone only played AK or pockets. You need those <Aaron will think of another word to put here instead of continually trying to exploit the swear filter> players and loose calls to keep the game interesting. You need 27 offsuit to smash JJ for a laugh.

ouch. not much you can do about that however. How comfortable are you making that call with A8? even suited!

You say "nice raise", and put it away for next time! I like it tho :D
