How did you die at State

Postby gundog » Mon Jun 16, 2008 1:05 pm

Guys this nthred is more about the Hand that knocked you out of the State Final.

Explain what your thoughts were and why you played that particular hand.

What Killed me.

I was dealer and delt myself [kh] [qh]

eveyone folded except me and the BB.

The Flop is Delt
[ah] [9d] [jh]

BB calls all in with 4000+

I knew he had hit top pair with his quick all in my dilema, I had 1900 was going to short stacked no matter what, I decided to call his all in. My reason for the call were simple if I hit one on my 3 outs, I would have doubled up plus the ante's and SB, I had 3 good outs 1. a Royal Flush in I hit a [10h] 2. Any 10 would give me a Straight and 3. Any Heart would give me a flush.

BB Shows
[as] [7c]

I was right he hit top pair.

The Turn
[6s]

No help to either of us

The River
[qc]

I made a pair of Q's but not good enough to beat a pair A's

I'm Dead 1.45 hrs into flight 2

Blinds 400/800. I'm UTG with 3900 in chips. Dealt KQ offsuit.

I know that I need to accumulate some chips before the recombine, and KQ is the best hand I've had in a hour. I had a really tight table image so I figured if I pushed all in at best the table would put me on an Ace. I move all in.

No 1 folds, no 2 (wiilko) insta moves over the top for 8k ish, and everyone folds.

He shows pocket 10s, flop is COMPLETELY low (like 442) and the turn and river don't help.

Didn't feel too bad I needed chips and didn't want to get my blinds stolen by all ins. Antes were killing me, I had to make a move.

firstly gundog, you had WAY more than 3 outs (you had 3 possible hands you could have made)

any 10 (3 left), or any heart (9 left) minus 10 hearts (dont count it twice)

that makes 11 outs, or around 44% post flop of winning the hand. so it wasn't a bad call.

secondly, maybe it was worth pushing all in preflop? (i assume you flat called pre flop)

PS: i didn't die at states, i died in the last week of last season :(

12 outs, not 11? Don't think you counted the 10h at all.

10s, 10c, 10d, 10h

2h, 3h, 4h, 5h, 6h, 7h, 8h, 9h

Managed to slowly recover up to ~2k and got dealt [qh] [qd] with blinds 200/400. Early position raise of 2xBB, I go over the top with just under 2k, he calls and turns over [ah] [ad]. Kinda thought he may have had high pockets but couldn't lay down QQ preflop with a shortstake and antes/blinds eating it away.

Nothing helped me on the flop, river or turn and it was tournament over for me

WAS NOT HAPPY that someone managed to see a burnt card and he reached over and exposed a [qs]. Should have called the TD over and got him to announced it as a dead hand

Not trying to be picky but I did say "I had 3 good outs"

There were many option for me to win the hand likewise for my opponent.

LOL

So 3 good outs = straight, flush, or royal flush = 12 outs

:D

what, so if u hit a 2 of hearts, then you would have mucked your hand because it wasn't a "good out"

all cards to give you the winning hand are good outs aren't they? :P

you'd have to think he meant he had 3 ways his hand could be made?

ie. flush (hearts), straight(10), straight flush(10h) - 3 "outs"

i knew what he meant - well i might, its hard to be sure ;-)

That's what I meant too when i translated to "so 3 good outs = straight, flush or royal flush" ;)
