This is a warning, don't limp with AA

Postby AceLosesKing » Sat Jun 21, 2008 3:24 am

I did tonight, and got absolutely dominated. First session and I get dealt QQ. I raise big preflop and get a caller, Kyle, then move all in on the flop. He folds and I declare what I have.

I get TT and raise big preflop, all fold, I declare what I have.

I get AA, UTG, next hand. Right after the 10s, and right after the entire table is making jokes about me having all their chips, and having great hands when I raise preflop (I was getting some awesome cards).

So I decide to limp, for 100, wait to get raised, then move all in over the top. In my defense, I was on a table with some great players. Kyle to my left, who I'd easily put as top 3 in the region, Julie Norwood, Todd Gray, Michelle Collins. All players that would raise on something like QJ, or A10, or pockets - playable hands, basically.

Instead, its FOLD, FOLD by Kyle, FOLD, FOLD by Todd, call, FOLD by Julie, check by Michelle in BB.

CRAP.

Flop K Q 3. Checked by Michelle. There's a flush draw, I am shit scared and I wanna take this now. I bet 300. Call, Michelle folds.

Turn: 3. I bet 600. He raises in for 750.

"Man if you have the 3," I say, while calling the extra 150.
"I do."
"Goddammit."

River irrelevant, AA smashed by 2 3 offsuit. Raise preflop if you have AA, people. This is pub poker, not the cas.

I tried telling like 4 people the story.

"No you limped in with AA, you don't get to complain. I don't wanna hear it."

:(

I know :(

My own fault, but at the time I thought it was a perfect play. I knew that if I raised big preflop I'd get no callers. I did want value for it, but one caller at 3xBB is 3 players limping in, something you definitely don't want with Aces.

Sigh. Oh well, poker is always a learning experience.

suffer :D

If you try and extract more value, you should certainly be aware that you're opening yourself up to more risk of losing the hand.

And I'm sure you know that now lol
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

kleeman made some massive donk moves last night - and he tries to tell us that they are bad beat stories

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

this is all from the player that before the tournament was saying, and i quote "i have the regional leaderboard in the bag"

zack said watch out for XXX, he has made a few final tables this season already

AK's reply was "player XXX is s-hit, i am gonna win this region"

and then he goes and does something silly like limp in with aces!!!!!

GOLD kleeman, gold

BTW, i wish i was playing more games this season. 4 final tables from 7 games, average of 29.

my actual average is better than anyones on the regional leaderboard, and even with the top-10 thing, i would be 6th at the moment.

basically, im telling everyone this because kleeman sucks hairy dogs balls at poker :D :D :D

Limping with monsters (AA, KK and possibly QQ) should only be done short handed at latter stages of a tournament in my opinion. Simple as that.
Riskers gamble, experts calculate.

*Kleemann.

And I never said the Aces were a bad beat story - it was my fault I didn't raise and get junk like 23 out, and I admitted that. And then checking down top pair on the flop, so I can let him hit runner runner two pair, my fault too. So don't be making up crap :P I never said any of them were bad beat stories.

Now the A3, to my AK... that was brutal.

I know, I'm totally disgusted with the way I acted last night. I'm completely serious, I got home last night and realised what a tool I was acting like. I do NOT want to turn into some arrogant player that thinks their top dog (aka, XXX. Not your XXX benny the cunt, but another player. You know who I'm talking about). I felt like such an idiot - I was talking to JD later on, he said he was pretty happy to see me knocked out; I bet the entire room was happy to see me go.

In fact - everyone that was at the Kinger last night, sorry. If I'm ever acting like that again pull me up on it.

I picked you for finishing in the top 5 man, remember that.
