He DID make the final 21 ... was on the middle table, I think. Opposite the dealer.

bi-annually is a great idea! i definatly think it would work, and i know of a lot of people who wanted to go but didnt think they would get a spot so numbers wouldnt be an issue!

also $6 hotdogs where a bit steep, i still bought it tho maybe, as its lunchish time, some $3 basic sandwhiches? just a thought.

but for an inuagural event, brilliant!

oh cept the 300/600 blind that were missing i just really liked them!

(who else thought it was funny that sunday morning i heard 'you look how i feel' about 3 dozen times, it sure helps when everybody looks how i feel!)

There's honestly very little to alter, everyone had such a good time! Maybe for the buffet you could include hash browns and maybe mushrooms? I definitely noticed the table service but at times it seemed it was only 1 person (I remember 1 player starting to have withdrawals). Maybe knock a couple of bucks off the cost of those 'hot' dogs. Perhaps keeping the drinks prices at whole or half dollar amounts (and the same cost at all bars during play) would be a good idea. That's all I can think of, very minor stuff really.

And, Dave, if a $6 hotdog is the greatest of your concerns, then this will be a great event for years to come.

Why not hold it bi-annually? Imagine the numbers you'd get if it was held in the warmer months? I'd surely bring the GF down, and she would sit by the river all day.

Shutup Bacon you get to spend more time with your "X" Annually is fine as it gives people a break away from the city crap each year and maybe make it a holiday break.

Donna and myself have already agreed to take a week or more of her holidays or at least spend Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday in the riverland and take in the sights.

Some of our friends were contemplating doing the same so we might even grab one of those house boats on the other side of the river and stay the week. I don't think there will be any problems filling the Resort and or any of the other places for accomodation.

David, I heard that Berri also has a Netball Carnival around the same time and some other events that the Resort gets involved with. So, is it possible to let us know ASAP when you, NPL and the Berri Resort select the dates for the next Big Stack Event so we can prebook now?

By the way I didn't have a hot dog, I was a pie and pasty man @ $4 each I suppose that was reasonable. But I did hear hot dogs were cold and a little plain/dry for the $6 fee. Maybe cheese and or onions at that price would be more acceptable.

All of the meals and drinks we had were a fair price and the staff seemed a little shocked at first but eventually warmed to the occasion. Rego area seemed to annoy the front reception area ladies a little so maybe you could look at a better location for next year.

It was a great location for a poker event such as this and I'm sure it must have been good for the area too. We had intended to arrive Friday afternoon to take in some of the sights. Unfortunately we didn't arrive until around 6pm. so, it was a bit of a rush to get unpacked and have some tea before the Friday night game.

I'm sure after everyone tells their story of the Berri Big Stack there will be more people wanting to join us next year. Although the 299 runners seemed to be enough to make it comfortable for all those who played as I think any more would have made it a tight squeeze.

Excellent weekend David and if all you get as a problem is a cold $6 hot dogthen your on a winner M8.dog

Come on you hard core poker players think of a few things that can improve and excellent event.

Pre-registration on friday may be an option to consider.

Play a sit and go style tables but 8/10 players per table and a player can only play a maximum of 2 sit and go tables, after 8 tables have played the winners of each table win free drink of their choice and then recombine to playoff for a prize ie weekend for 2 at the resort, or seat at sky city poker event or a direct entry to the next state final.

this might be a minor thing, but i would have rather played 9 handed than 10 handed - the game would have gone a little quicker, and it would have meant only 3 more tables at the start of the game.

other than that, i think it was awesome

pre-registration isn't really needed, but i think a proper rego list before hand would have been good.

but i really like the idea of smaller side games such as omaha or stud to be played as a side show to the main event, when people have got knocked out.

another idea to increase the spectator experience would be to have an overhead cam so that the flop can be seen.

for those of us that stayed around to watch the final table, it was awesome to watch (i absoultely loved it), but there were times where the flop wasn't commentated by garth or nathan or dakota, so we really didn't know what was going on unless we stood up and took a step or two forward to see the cards.

so a flop cam would be really good, and would keep people around/interest/spending more money on that sunday evening
