Mmm yes men!
It could be just as easy as adjusting the title as you said there Pete. Name the 'Top 50' to something like 'Wildcard 50' or just something that better represents what it stands for.
I like the idea of having more stats so you can check up on people just to see how they've done or played and wouldn't mind at all either if it didn't actually count to anything other than being stats.

I would have had an average of 59.99 last season

If you changed 'top 50' to 'those who have the most free time/spare money and got the luckiest the most' I'd be content
A 'leaderboard' should be just that.
A 'rewards board' (?? just made that name up) should also be just that...there could perhaps be a clearer distinction as to which one the 'top 50' is actually supposed to be. Although it's clearly leaning very far towards the 'rewards board'.
I'd have no problem with there being one of each.... have stated before that those who continue to heavily support the NPL and it's venues absolutely should get some sort of reward.
Just chucking out an idea here but...
It could be argued that 'average' is a rubbish stat to begin with - largely because of the differing size of venues and crowds in them.
now your talking ].. perhaps. take your stats from the leaders/venues boards
ie percentage of games played vs wins vs points obtained vs DNP
why have 50 more wild cards in the State final when as a hear over 700 at the States in second season ... TD mentioned a Shake up in Season three -- Regional play offs etc this could lead winning players to qualify to say State finals - players recieving trophy monies at other NPL sanctioned/ invitational events
Plus events like the Teams events which unite players/venues winning / placed teams/ players would win qualification or entry to other 'sanctioned events / finals"
with 62 teams x 8 players plus staff at the teams events ---> 500 players at one event/ venue why not limit to 200- 250 300? players per Event/ venue ?? ie East vs West -- Country vs metro etc etc the winners recieve bonus[rewards points or entry points --- I liked season one idea of venue winners in the month qualifying for an Event ---> finals ]
So... maybe look to include something along the lines of what you see mentioned everytime there's a player profile at WSOP.... ie number of cashes for the year and number of final tables and number of wins (and state from how many tourneys that was for). Some stats that are more meaningful and apply to a leaderboard that's actually supposed to be a leaderboard would be a good idea I think. Not even too fussed if it counted for anything or not.

Re: Current Average System vs Old Average System
I havent read everypost but who cares, top 50 average doesnt mean anything to me except they play alot, if your good enough to get in on a venue then your probably a better player than these top 50 so be happy, they play alot which is good to keep NPL alive but it doesnt mean there best in state. Best in state is the person who takes down the final. both methods season 1 and 2 worked fine for me as i dont play many games but get in through venues. as long as i make it to have a shot at the title im happy:)
re name top 50 to wild bunch or something. ?

I do agree that "State Leaderboard" isn't really the right name for it.
I think Wild Cards would be more suitable.

LOL, now we are just squabbling. It will remain know as the state leaderboard. I will reiterate, from our perspective, to be a great NPL player it is not just about the poker skills and points and averages but your loyalty and support. The best POKER player is not necessarily decided at the state finals but, in my view, over the long haul: consistent performance in achieving qualification to finals and consistently finishing in a high position at these finals.

NPL GREAT IN 2008
There has never been a horse born yet that can go quite as fast as the money you put on it.

Re: Current Average System vs Old Average System
I just like to keep up my post count.
I think regardless of what way you have it, there would always be a group of players who would be unhappy. Also, at some point you have to limit the number of players who can actually qualify for state finals.
Ohh just had an idea... Tournament of Champions. Top 25 finishers in the state finals from season 2, 3, 4 and 5 to play off in a 100 person tournament for prize.... I should be in marketing/promotions. I'm an idea's man. Shame I'll never win one of the damn things lol.
OK back to work for me...almost on holidays!

Cougar, I'm combined your post with the thread already started about this... no need to have multiple threads about the same thing.

Ahh Des, we don't like to use that Tournament of *Y&^$%#%$# phrase as it is used by a certain other company.
There are a lot of big things happening next season. You will hear about them shortly. Probably even before the staff.
