From reading a number of these posts, it appears most people (with a few exceptions) are not overly concerned about the way the 'leaderboard' is represented on the site, or even that 50 of the most regular/loyal players will be rewarded by a wildcard entry into the State final. It think everyone understands Garth's position and the reasoning behind it.

Possibly, if there was an option to sort columns on the Leaderboard so that people could look at the leaderboard from different perspectives, the current 'best 25 games', 'the most wins', the best 'overall average', the 'most points' you may well satisfy people's curiosity, not to mention the additional bragging rights and banter that could create amongst players - loyal or otherwise.

I'm also guessing modifying the website functionality saves the need to change the whole process and it does not disadvantage any venue or individual.

Hmm, in a previous life I must have been a Cold War arbitrator

And cougar, you have to be kidding right? Keep it simple mate, we have to convey the concept and processes of the leaderboards to new players nightly as well as the fact I am not stuffing around that much come the end of the season or at the state finals.
Now I ask you, why should those (who you yourself have judged and stated to be the BEST players in SA) start with more chips than normal qualifies at the state finals? I'm sorry but it doesn't create the most level playing field does it. While where at it why don't we invite Joe Hachem or another big name pro and start him off with 10,000 in chips. I am sorry but I have expressed mine and the companies view on this repeatedly and that last post of yours, whilst time and effort were taking (thank you), is just purely hypocritical.
We may change the structure again, top 2 at each venue and top twenty on the state leaderboard that will create a field of 300, all players will start with $5000 and the blinds will be 30 mins in length.
Who's happy with that structure, I know a lot of players won't be or the finals venue for that matter, but what do the players on here feel about this?

Hi Sergei,
I have put forward many changes that I would like to see on the NPL website, these things take time (A LONG TIME). Only because of the structure of the company and different people being responsible for different parts of the website.
One day I will live in a world where I will wake up and realise that the npl website is perfect, all my staff are answering emails and phone calls promptly and customers have no reason to write to me at all.

What's going to happen Luke? Updates to the website, or a smaller field in the state finals? Or some people being sensible?
Your right I must be crazy!

I'd like to add that those who are currently claiming content with the wildcard top 50 or whatever you want to call it, will very suddenly be changing their tune the very moment it affects them and they miss out on a finals spot because of it :)

It's all a matter of perspective :)
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

does anyone really care about the top 50 leaderboard? if you are good enough to qualify for the state finals, then you should be good enough to place in the top 5 at a venue, regardless of the top 50.

Secondly, what is wrong with having 600 players at the state final? The aussie millions satellite and the Season 1 state final seemed to be run very well withough drama, so what is the big deal?

Garth, by reducing the number of players that qualify to 2-3 instead of 5 would hurt the NPL a lot more in my opinion, because you would lose the once a week, single venue players that will only be looking to qualify at that venue. i dare say that more people will be annoyed with that than they will be with changing the format of the top 50 leaderboard
