State Finals System

Postby mr_niceguy_1979 » Tue Dec 18, 2007 1:07 pm

Hi there, I'm new to NPL and the forum but was thinking about the current "state finals" system. I think 700+ people at the state final is way too many, yet the top 5 from each venue is still challenging to acheive and you wouldn't want to reduce this. Therefore I think you need to introduce an intermediate final that people need to participate in so that they qualify for state finals. I apologise if something like this has already been suggested.

The intermediate final could be based on a "nightly" or "regional" finals system. People still qualify for this final by being the Top 5 at a venue. Then the top 15 from each nightly/regional final would go through to the state final.

One of the issues I see here is that some country venues wont really be able to have a "regional final" and definitely not a "nightly final". The solution here could be to have the top 5 from country venues to go straight to state final (same as current system). This would only be for a small number of venues which are "isolated". Perhaps this wont be necessary and the region's venues are close enough together such that a regional final can be held.

To increase numbers, you could just change the number that qualify from the regional/nightly final.

This would avoid a huge SA final yet still give a pathway for everyone to participate

You could also keep the top 25/50 system and these players would go straight through to the finals.

Thoughts?

why should the country girls and guys be any differnt to us all? if country peps go stright through to state thats un fair by just being in the top 5 by ur idea. they play againts alot less people and get stright through to state thats just seems unfair if we all have to make top 5 and then play again in a semi to get to state and they don't.
What do you mean, thats unrelated!

I've moved this post here into the 'Your NPL' thread.

The reason why is because if you looked at the description of the thread title you would have seen this for yourself :)

Please try and put your posts in the most applicable thread people!

cheers
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Yeah, that's a fair call

If you removed this "country player" clause and made it a "regional" final system feeding into the state final, I think it would work really well.

I have no problems with state finals the way they are, but you do also get to see the regional top players on the NPL website, yet that status isn't used anywhere.

While keeping the state final, why not have a regional competition, where the top 50 (based on whatever points average you like) in each region play off.

Then we'd finally know that the Noreasters are waaaay better than the Norwesters!
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

North Easters better than everybody else? Big Statement!
Maybe next team event should be region against region.
And then we will do a staff bounty game as well.
