Season 3 - Status on your goals

So how is everyone going with the goals they set at the start of the season and is everyone on track to make state finals?

This is how I'm going

Playing only once per week, my goals for season 3 2008 are to
1) Finish in the points greater than 50%

ACHIEVED SO FAR - made points in 50% of my 6 games. I need to finish in the points in 2 of the remaining 3 weeks to keep above 50%.

2) Final Table greater than 25%

ACHIEVED - made final table 3 times (9th, 8th, 7th) so am currently sitting on 50%

3) Win at least 1 tourney

NOT YET - Could be tough though in such a large field and only 3 weeks left

4) Play in Sky City Satelitte

NOT YET - Hopefully will achieve this with 3.

5) Make state finals

Looking Good - Sitting 5th at venue, with 3 state top 50 above me, so actually sitting 2nd

i think i am having my second best season to date, final tabling in 6 out of my first 9 games (6/11 in total now)

yet to win a game this season, which is disappointing, as i have finished 3rd three times, and 4th, 5th and 6th in the other times i have made points.

made it to about 3 tables left, which i was a little disappointed with, but i gave most of my chips to the eventual winner, so i take some some consolation in that

make day 2 of the deepstack tournament, and if i do that, make the cash

played about 6 hours in the deepstack, getting knocked out just before tea on day 1, which was not too bad - the cards literally went cold for the last 2 hours that i played, and i didn't make too many mistakes, so overall i was pretty happy with how i went.

i also got around 25th in the repecharge, so i was really pleased with this

make states again (been just outside since season 1)

yay, i have qualified for states already. i finished 3rd at the willaston hotel on sunday nights playing 4/5 games before they closed, so i am stoked about this. i am also sitting second at the kingsford as well, and they are getting 55-60 runner fields, so i am happy as its the largest regular field i have played in, most other venues i have been regularly at get around 40 runners

qualify for sky city promotion

after coming so close this season with 6 games inside the top 6, i can smell a victory around the corner.

only played at the one venue this season with a couple of adventures down to the late payneham tavern game

got three bad beats just before making the points at my local venue, meaning finals is a long way off for me now, first time i will miss

my new goal is to win a tourney in the next 4 weeks to play in the skycity satellite

My goal of winning one in every 17 games isn't looking too good. I have put myself in good positions to win quite a few, but have gotten just a little too aggressive whilst playing short handed. More often than not, I've put my chips in whilst in front, but I'll take those chances every time. If I keep making final tables like I have been I'll pick up a couple more by the end of the season.

39 games, 18x points, 13 FTs, 1 win

Made states thru Ballroom (3rd), sitting 2nd at Kentish.

Most of all, I'm very happy with how my game has improved over this season, and last 2 weeks of last season.

Never quite made POTW top 10. Close, but not quite.

It has been good to play around a little this season, really enjoyed Berri and playing with the locals on the Friday was fun.

edit: oh yeah, I wanted to make finals thru state leader board too - that is on track too, as I'm sitting in low teens.

Win TWO NPL tourny's, qualify for states, finish in the top 3 in the region, get player of the week at least once.

- I haven't won any tourny's so far
- I've made states, sitting 1st at the Kingsford on Fridays, and failing that, 4th on Thursdays.
- Sitting 1st in the region: my new goal is to finish 1st.
- PoTW won't be happening, at least with the current format.

Like rcon though, I'm most happy with how my game has improved this season. I'm continually learning a lot more about position, table image, odds, etc.

Find a venue and stick to it. Make Top 5. Qualify for States. - Currently 5th at Highlander, about 1 point from 3rd (but also about 10 points ahead of 6th. It'll be close)
Win a tourney (haven't for a long time) - Still not, but consecutive 2nds.
