Interesting article and subsequent discussion on the topic.

(I apologise for the invasive ads :) )

ok, well that "sort of" makes sense, if you are prepared to believe that every little piece of space-time is connected to every other piece of spacetime with wormholes, which is not the case.

this is the critical part of the argument

Richard Muler, physics dude wrote:To make physics sense of the movement of the island in Lost, I assume that the island is actually connected to the South Pacific by a wormhole-like warp in space-time. (It doesn't have to be a simple worm hole; it could be a warren of parallel and intersecting tubes.

but hey, physicists are used to making assumptions like this to explain something, so i am sort of happy with what they are saying here

MSU

stands for 'Making Shit Up'
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

You're thinking way too much into this benny the cunt. If you devoted your life to asking questions of everything that didn't make sense in lost you would die an old and still not completed life.

Just use this line when something comes up that you don't understand how it happened benny the cunt and save us all the anguish. "It was magic". Use that and it will explain everything.
If you've got luck...use it!

how can something move but not physically move?

3rd dimension move? so it moved in altitude did it?

this is probably one of those things that my science background doesn't let me just gloss over.

i wanna know what the hell they did to the island goddammit

And as for this benny the cunt. Haven't you ever heard of sperate plains, multiple universes, parallel dimensions, black holes, worm holes and many of the other possible unknown phenomenon? It's this sort of science that I was refering too when I used the term '3rd Dimension'. I'm sorry if my non-electrical engineering brain couldn't phrase the english language to your suiting. Just open your mind to the possibility that not everything on a T.V show has to make sense in real life.

Do you sit there watching Heroes and go "Oh that chick couldn't be pyrokinetic because the human brain can only...." and so on. You remind me of one of those Star Trek fans who would go up to the actors and ask questions like "In episode 22, scene 14, line 12, you referred to quantum physics yet in episode 14, scene 11, line 34 you referred to it as sonar equations. Why is this?"

Honestly benny the cunt does it really matter. "Why does a dog lick it's balls? Because it can". Why does lost make no sense? Because it doesn't have to. Maybe you should use that intelligent brain of yours and devote it to something more useful then picking apart storylines in a television show. May I suggest solving the ozone depletion problem or maybe finding an alternate energy source for the use of man kind.

At least this would be productive in some way, and you would become rich off of these ideas, because we all know your poker skills aren't going to help you make any decent money, don't we benny the cunt :)

Shrek, i knew what u meant, but these are not in the "third dimension," we have 3 spatial dimensions, u can think of them as latitude, longitude and altitude if u want to.

parallel dimensions and the like are part of string theory, a theory of quantum gravity that is supposed to unite quantum physics and general relativity. at present, there is 11 dimensions used in that theory, 3 spatial dimensions, 1 of time, and 7 curled up so small that we can't possibly see them - these extra dimensions allow for parallel universes etc - in theory of course, noone has every confirmed this experimantally.

but this has NOTHING to do with moving islands or any other crap.

its not the way u phrased it shreky, its just wrong. there is no shame in that

seriously shreky why the need for sarcasm? if u actually read what i have posted previously, i have said that lost DOESN'T HAVE TO MAKE SENSE.

i have merely stated that the "science" that people have tried to use in these posts here is a load of crap - it doesn't mean the show has to be scientifically correct - even worse is when its not correct, and people try to make it out to be.

I hate Lost. Every answer makes 2 more questions. Then there are the ones that go bam and you have 8 more questions. Soon, there's so many questions that even when you get an answer you think its yet another question.

<head explodes>

Oh, and I was being sarcastic with the hate part.
Will dance for your chips!
