Hi guys

Unfortunately today we lost the plush group of venues (Barrossa Brauhaus, Tanunda, old spot and smithfield).

They have decided that having an inferior company running their games makes good business sence.

For all players who haved qualified for state, regional and sky city finals your seats will be honoured. All players of these venues are highly regarded customers of NPL.

For the players in my B/G region rest assured NPL will be sourcing new venues to cover the loss of the above mentioned pubs. You will still be able to play at the number one provider of free poker in S.A. in your region and on the nights that you wish to play.

Any questains that you may have please do not hesitate to ask me either at games or on the forum.

regards
matty

pfft npl doesn't need them anyway.

but its kinda like they wanted a bit of profit before they told NPL to piss off.

if thats the case, it doesn't make good business sense to me

:(

Good to hear that NPL will be looking for new pubs. This sucks, I was looking to make Tanunda one of my regular venues next season, as were a few others.

Oh well, at least we still have the Vine Inn :D

Unfortunately, I'd have to disagree with you there benny the cunt as NPL does need them and so do we the punters. And regarding it doesn't make good business sense. To which company are you refering too??

The venue operator in this case has 4 outlets and is obviouly looking at the bottom line. Therefore, he's reducing his cash outlay and hopes for the same return of numbers and income from the new operator. Makes good business sense to me if I wasn't poker orientated.

If I were running a business in the Barossa area and lost 4 of my outlets for my product I'd be wanting to know why and try to keep them. Unfortunately, as I said before it seems the venues aren't interest in which poker company is the best in the state or not. They are more concerned with their up front costs and then what the bottom line is like regarding profit.

They the hoteliers or clubs don't care about poker as it's just another earner. And if it's not earning then it's gone. The venues and NPL are in it for the bottom line and that's what pays the bills.

It's like most of the kitchens in pubs now. They employ cooks not chefs. The fish, meat, snitzels and vegies are in frozen prepacked boxes. Most punters wouldn't know it was defrosted and thrown into a deep fryer or grille and then slapped on a plate with salad or vegies. Fresh prepared food doesn't count any more.

So if NPL aren't flexible and another company is well I'm afraid the venue operator may switch and we as punters then have to decide where our loyalties are. The pub, club or NPL????????

We the poker players are there because we want to play poker and we think NPL do a better job than the competition. However the loyal drinker who plays poker at his venue may not care who runs the poker. He's probably been drinking there for ages and the poker is just another thing to do. So, as long as he can have beer and maybe a meal he's more than happy and the poker is a bonus.

benny the cunt please note I'm not having a go at you or anyone else be it NPL or a Venue operator I'm just trying to paint a broader picture of good business sense. I've been involved with setting up and running many companies in my time mate.

And may I say that the best or dearest product isn't always the best seller! Nor does it make the most money as it's all down to how it's sold to the customer and in this case how it will be better for them in the long run.

bob, all of your points are valid about the wanting to switch operators with regards to the bottom line etc.

what i am annoyed about is the fact that they organised a special event, telling everyone that this would be a regular thing. the waikerie boys and girls pay 40+ dollars for the bus and the meal, the venue gets 100 runners and would have made a killing.

but then wait, pretty much the next day we are hearing they are closing for NPL? i am 99.99% sure they would have known they are changing before they started organising the riverlanders coming down, which means they have pulled the wool over the eyes of everyone that has spent their hard earned at the pub.

i am not a regular drinker at any of the plush pubs, but i believe they have treated their patrons with contempt in this matter, so its pretty unlikely i am going to become a regular drinker any time in the future.

the regular drinkers will still go there, but if you look at the makeup of an NPL tourney, there are many many people in this region that follow NPL around, and im pretty sure these people wont be going back.
