Re: Date for regionals?
If anything is to be considered silly then I'd suggest looking at the reason WHY it might need to be held elsewhere.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Re: Date for regionals?
Exactly, Pete. None of this "has to be" crap, I see no reason why the regional final can't be held in a Barossa/Gawler venue, on a weekend. No one (venue) is free for a few weeks? Then we wait.
If you hold the regional final on a weekday there is no way we are going to be able to have a relaxed structure with 150 runners. Not to mention everyone with work/family/sporting/other commitments.

benny the cunt, I thought you were of some intellegence. If I had suggested say the Parafield Gardens as an alternative which is about 10 Kilometers from Virginia and believe it or not is a B&G Venue. Wow!!! I'd say that's a little closer than Melbourne, don't you think?????
Oh Golly Gosh benny the cunt, Para Hills is around the same distance as Parafield Gardens!!!!!!
Gee Whizz, Golly Gosh, AAron we Play Aussie rules and exhibition games in Ireland the UK and USA who knows one day they might???????? Don't hold your breath tho. And I believe Paris is some thousands of miles from Australia.
And Macca, I'm sorry but your comment of only 5 turning up is not worth replying too mate.
So I guess you know your a B&Ger when you can't think outside the square!!!!!!!!!!
Matty I was going to PM you and after all this crap maybe I should have.
But there's no garantee those Venues being available either. So if these guys are serious and want it in a B&G region, maybe they should contact you and put up the funds and a venue (shed) get a liquour licence and a caterer and reap the rewards themselvses.
Sorry for being so terse with you guys and I'm sure there will some come backs. But obviously you have very little idea of what is required to organise a major function otherwise you would'nt be coming up with your silly remarks.

Bob, I find that pretty offensive. Before you shoot your mouth off about intelligence, make sure you are smart enough to spell the word first.
What we have been trying to say all along, is that it doesn't matter when or where the regionals are held, but it would be better for everyone, ESPECIALLY THE VENUES IN THE REGION, if the REGIONALS were held in the REGION
Bob B wrote:You guys have no idea other than being self centred in your thinking.
im sorry, but you are way off the mark here bob, and are in fact the one that is self centred. go back and read the posts carefully again, and you will realise that noone is against holding the regionals in another region, but it makes a lot more sense if the regionals are held in the region.

Where have i said that it was going to be an easy thing to organise? obviously matty and the other organisers are having a bit of trouble, or else it would have been organised by now.
i know you are the self proclaimed fount of knowledge of business, but what has you statement above got to do with my opinion of where the regionals should be held?
bob, your post is very rude, and i expect an apology. i was saying your idea, not you as a person, in my opinion, was silly, and you have come out and personally attacked me for apparently no reason. i would have thought you were a person of some intelligence, but obviously not.

Holding the B&G regionals in somewhere other than the B&G region is just plain stupid. The regionals finals are a celebration of the season, and to hold them in the NE, or the south... wouldn't make sense at all. Think of the effort every B&G player would have to go to just to attend.
You've also got to consider the financial benefits for the venue. Its a chance to showcase your venue to the entire region and bring in a big profit, something that should be going back to the B&G region, not some city pub.
I get what you're saying Bob, but the idea is ludicrous. If Matty can't find a venue, then he will just wait until one opens up. B&G players will understand the wait - nobody would want to sacrifice it for the regional finals to be held in the city.
Aaron, I'm so surprised at what you are saying. I believe you were there when Matty said, "That the Willaston had double booked and then he found out about the other 4 venues no longer NPL". You said "The Vines get the Vines" and Matty said that wasn't available either.
Now have a look at the list of venues in the B&G coz I don't have any idea, how big, or how small they are. I assume Matty has approached them anyway.
Parafield Gardens, Para Hills are more than capable of handling the Regionals. But are they avaialble?????? I don't know!! But at least they are worth looking into as they are only a few K's down the road and someone else on the forum has said they don't mind travelling the extra K's.
Hey!!! And remember Matty also said Annabelle doesn't want it held after the State finals. So, unless she does a 180 we need a venue before the State finals date.
And again, Matty may already have found a new venue and is about to post it on the forum and all of this is going to waste. Cheers.

Guys, direct your frustrations at the clowns who double booked - not at each other.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

benny the cunt, I do owe you an apology as I hadn't read your other post you left on Aug 3rd 2.15pm. However the intelegence was never meant how you took it to be. It was meant as me seeing you as a person who would see that the state finals being held in Melbourne would be out of the question compared to something much closer.
As for me being self proclaimed in business. Well yes I did have little to do with running a Multi Million Dollar Brokerage called JM Insurances.
And organising a multitude of funtions and training courses over a number of years, plus managing companies such as Bramalco, Forrest Discount Furniture. Along with another 6 different companies that I managed.
And had I been a little smarter I could have had a partnership with Chas Colandro in Sprint Auto Parts but I took a deal to set up a company with two mates who ended up taking me to the cleaners.
Now as for where to hold such a venue, did you actually read what I said regarding Matty's plight of venues being available??? I have no idea how big or small the remaining venues are, and as I said in a reply to Aaron maybe Matty can find another NEW B&G venue.
And the section regarding "you guys being self centred in your thinking" was actually edited. But I guess you were a little too quick to respond obviously as soon as you read the first paragraph.
I could go on but I guess it's best to say in closing that I'm sure we all have the same interests and goals at heart.
Take care and please try and read my posts as I mean them to come accross not how you may interpret them.
