Are you really happy with just the blinds when you have AA(ie a "strong" hand)? When would you pick up chips then? When you're playing a hand not as strong? Because you sure are not going to get AA/KK once every round of the table! I want far more than the blinds when I get AA Doesn't mean I expect to double up, but I'd like to think I can out play a few people I can drag along for the ride..... if I get done over, so be it, but I bet you I win more on them that some one who is just picking up the blinds.

Last night I played VERY loose to begin with, the table I was on was playing to have fun and enjoy themselves, I decided to join in and enjoy playing as well, rather than playing my usual tight game.

I think you've now answered you question as to how did they managed to call you!

I really really REALLY wish I could agree with that, but in all honesty, I can be such a miser with betting, it burns me to buggery when I lose even the smallest amount.. LOL

Make sure the pots you lose are smaller than the ones you win?

I can see how what I did was stupid. If I was to read someone else playing that way, I would never have seen it as not having confidence in their hand, I would have read that they have a strong hand and they are happy just to get some blinds.

if you have Aces, then you want people calling, (but not too many of course). so unless you are sure they are going to push, then you are not going to go all in.

but if you have a marginal hand, like suited connectors or a weak ace, then you could push all in - then stealing the blinds is good, but if someone calls, you still have a fighting chance most of the time.

so pushing can be read as having a weak hand.

having said, this, it is most definitely the pot calling the kettle black, as i have been busted recently overplaying hands like this (and others)

To answer your question, no, I was not happy, I wondered what kind of "player" would call $15,000 with Ace rag.

Not only that, I knew as soon as I saw the Ace I was gone.

Call it gutt feeling, having no faith in Jacks or just knowing I played the hand badly, I knew I was out.

It was still a loose call from the other player because they'd still need to get lucky with that hand (most likely hit the straight or flush) but at the same time your bet was a bit ridiculous, but I'm sure you know that now.

Pushing all-in is fine.. but not from UTG. The main reason is that you have no idea yet about anyone elses hand. You then have absolutely no opportunity to get away from the hand and you won't even have the chance to realise it might be no good until someone has called and all of your chips are already in the pot.

I use the same method as benny the cunt, JJ. If I feel that I made the right move, and I'd do it again, I'm not cut up about what happened. All you can do is put your chips in with the best hand and hope it holds up.
