Are you suggesting they have apos"trophies" to give out? You've added 2 too many in your post. :D

Agree with your opinion, just not your spelling.

However, NPL need to ensure that the prize is awarded. I remember the 1st season ever, a venue had a fridge or something behind the bar, and announced the Venue Leader would win it. About week 4 the fridge disappeared, and never heard about again.

LOL serious? thats funny

gonna be hard for the NPL to enforce venues to supply prizes... i guess if the venue is withholding promised prizes they wont keep their clientele too long though.

Hi Folks,

Alf from Bendigo here. I posted a comment a couple of days ago but I don't see it anywhere so I'll try again. ;)

I'd like to see a bracelet or a ring for tourney winners if finances allowed. I can't imagine them to be more expensive than the Glass Trophies [which are the best of them all so far] I'd imagine that many, many of our players have watched the 'big time poker games' on TV and bracelet is held in high esteem there and would, I'm sure, hold the interest of our players for a much longer period.

Not only that, anyone wearing one would undoubtedly create interest in their daily life and, therefore, expose NPL to more and more people. And, worthwhile exposure is what we should all be seeking, eh?
Alf. Morley.

How about you pick on the people who are the sticklers for grammar? I'd rather not have everyone one of my many mistakes pointed out.

Hi All.

Another Victorian here to take over your forum (Great community you have going on here)

I believe that the trophies for first should stand, remember how you felt the first time you won one? Imagine if you just got a good cap or something like that instead, would not be worth it.

I believe that we should give out a pack of cards for second, possibly the Red NPL (Dual logo) that are on their way out now.

But I give the bulk of my prizes away during the night via passport draws, it makes the average player that plays for fun, and not to make it to the final table a chance to get something.

The quality should be increased somewhat, not to the point of solid gold stitches on a stubby holder, but a stubby holder that is much better than the ones that we gave away in the first few seasons, one that actually insulates the drink and has a bottom to it, so if you are drinking a Heineken or a smaller beer, it won’t fall straight through the end.

FTT or key rings need to stay, people love them, sure once you get 100 you get over it, but your 99th will still be a thrill (maybe)

I realize the legalities of the next selection might be a bit sus, but the brains at the office should be able to work their way around it, but possibly a bonus offer at a decent poker website, maybe like a no condition $10 deposit, or something along those lines.

Also, though the key rings are quite old, if we could get some that congratulated the regular players on being loyal, such as a 50 game key ring, 100, 200, 500 games played, and maybe a 1,000th game card guard to congrats them on their loyalty and effort.

The last I realise Garth has said this is not a discussion for, but I would like to know others feelings on this one; A prize, possibly even a framed certificate for the winners of the region over the season.

Thanks for reading my suggestions (the extended directors cut), hope you havn’t fallen asleep on your keyboards.

Enjoy

Blue Gums (surprisingly) had a bar fridge full of booze as a prize for season 1 2007, and it definitely didn't go missing - I can even tell you who won it and also who came 2nd and is kicking themselves for missing those 2 games at the start of the season ;) You're smoking crack Bacon :)

As is anyone who seems to think that the venues shouldn't be promoting themselves a little instead of relying on the NPL (and the forum) to do it all for them. One of the best ways to do that would be for the venue to offer any end of season prize because it shows they give a hoot and we all know that gets reciprocated by the players.

Anyhoo back on topic - I do really like the stubbie holders, coasters, glasses idea because they are at least useful and people won't mind having multiples of them. The glass trophies are also decent ( I liked the rectangular prism style the best) and maybe a different style of glass trophy each season would be the go?
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
