what people may not know, is that in bradbury's heat, he finished third, when the top 2 qualify. but the 2nd place getter got DQed, so he went through.

then in the semi final, he was well off the pace, and the first 3 dudes fell so he went through to the final.

then in the final, the first 4 dudes fell at the last turn and he went through for the gold!!

noone can ever take that away from him, well done :D

I was actually lucky enough to see Steven Bradbury speak earlier in the year at our National Sales Conference & his story is actually quite amazing. I must admit before he started I wasn't very interested in him & thought that he just was in the right place at the right time & he wouldn't have too much else to say.

But to hear what he went through throughout his career to get where he was & it being his 3rd Olympics, (which many people don't realise) I too say well done & he deserves to be what he is - An Olympic Gold Medalist.

"Dubbed "the luckiest gold medallist", Bradbury won fans the world over for the honesty and humility he showed after the win. He saw his victory as reward not for one race, but for a decade of hard slog that has included more than his share of misfortune.

In Montreal, 1994, a race accident led to him being impaled on a skate and creating a cut so extensive he lost 4 litres of blood and required 111 stitches. He was extremely lucky to survive. Following that, a training mishap in 2000 broke his neck and forced him to spend six weeks in a halo brace.

Steven Bradbury again fought his way back, and two years later that neck was in the headlines again – only this time it hung with an Olympic Gold Medal.
"

Get your mates together to cough up the $30K appearance fee :D & put a few beers on & a BBQ because his hour and a half presentation is well worth it & very entertaining!! :D
