Yeah Telstra are pretty gay. We're on a 24 month, $60 a month ($30 for the first year) contract. For that we get 12GB a month - I doubt that we'd even use 6. After my laptop broke down I stopped downloading everything, so now I just use the comp for general surfing, poker, etc. Nothing too taxing.

We're into the second year.

not with 20 gig a month i couldn't, unless i wanna get butt raped by virgin or telstra or whoever else i would get wireless through.

i emailed adam today, and they said if you are on a RIM, then suck carp, you have to put up with it. so it looks like i am staying with a 1.5MB 20 gig with adam, and 20 bucks a month to telstra for a little piece of cable to my house. :(

I am on tpg's ADSL 1500 18/18 plan, think it is 60 a month.

6 month contracts are the go, mainly because the way broadband is moving. things are going to change with wireless offering. And also with the rollout of ADSL2+. Not to mention any new novel inventions.

I couldn't see myself on Bigpond especially the 3g plans. I download too much. Movies, tv shows, comics e.t.c, hence why my plan is good for me.

Also helps that i haven't had to use TPG help desk or support desk.

One of the positives with Internode (not sure about Adam, might be similar) is that they don't seem to have contracts. Just some fee for if you bugger off in the 1st 6 months which is pretty reasonable IMO.

For those stuck on a RIM, it really does suck to be you and you have my sympathies. This means that pretty much your only option is wireless for anything over 1.5 Mbit/s downstream speeds.

The best you'll get out of Optus at the moment is 3.6 Mbit/s and I think Telstra is achieving around 7 Mbit/s (both downstream) - I know Optus are going mental with upgrading existing towers and adding new ones blah blah blah.

For those that are interested in maybe getting wireless broadband I can assist you with checking your 3G coverage in your street which will give you an indication of your maximum achievable speed - just send me a pm with the street name, suburb, and postcode. I don't need the house number unless you turn out to be right on the edge of a coverage area or something.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
