Current Situation:

Locked out of my Account.

Don't want to post exact numbers but lets see one week's worth of wages was lost on casino games. I got a little bored.

This is the gambler in me coming out, only comes out twice a year this badly. Still only two sessions of poker though and up both times. Guess now i have to manage the entire mentality i have at the moment.

So New conditions to be imposed upon myself.

No Casino Games Ever, unless at a casino. Stupid house edge.
Poker Only. Still at $20 buy in's at 0.25/0.50.
Tournaments if i play any max spend is 1/20th or 5% of bankroll.

Hope to have this sorted out in the next day or two, just got to photocopy and fax some documents off to verify that i am not fraudulently using someone else's credit card.

Once again, take note this is all apart of my learning curve, i want people to truly know, if you can't afford to lose it, don't gamble it. Once you can master the discipline of sitting at the poker table and not worrying about losing or winning the money, then you can start focusing on improving your edge's against other players.

So my discipline at the moment is out the wazoo.

the biggest problem I have had online is with PartyPoker, I scored a virus that crashed my computer 2 days after reg, full format later I've forgotten my PW & lost the email it was saved in during the reformat, tried requesting a reset on about 10 occasions now via the auto reset and also sending an email to their 24/7 tech support. no response.

after that I gave up on online poker.

still gonna watch this thread as I may look into another site in the future

I went fishing for 4 hours yesterday and caught nothing. Need to get onto a casino game now. I once 6x my investment on 3 card poker online (and lost it all the same night).

Gets bored at poker, loses at casino games, tilts the remainder of the bank roll off.

Hopefully one person can learn from my mistake and turn the poker client off before tempted. As for the casino game rule. I think i can stick with it. Faxing the documents of tomorrow so i am back online sometime in the next week.

I started with $0 on stars just over a year ago and have been trying to do the Chris Ferguson experiment. I started by winning a couple of freerolls, then started playing cash games at 0.01/0.02, $2 stacks. Obviously this requires a lot of patience but it is a good way to develop your game. I moved to higher levels according to the 20 buy-ins rule, so i started playing 0.02/0.05 $5 stacks when I hit $100.

The games at 0.01/0.02 and 0.02/0.05 are extremely soft and loose, and you can make a lot of your money just from going all-in pre-flop with AA.

At 0.05/0.10 the game starts to change in style, except for the occasional maniac to stir things up.

0.25/0.50 is softer than I expected, with players still falling for the trick of limping UTG with AA and then shoving to their raise with JJ or QQ. It can definitely get a bit messy though with players CBing with AK on multiple streets like they have a PP, floating with nothing in position, and with all that you also gotta try and work out when you are up against a set. On the flip-side, floating is a great technique to use since the players are a lot more willing to fold. Bluffing the flush with an all-in from position after another player has shown pre-flop strength is incredibly successful.

I can understand people wanting to jump right into a higher level, but for me its like wanting to climb Mt Everest from sea level.

I also really like the FPP system stars has... I am now earning about 6000 FPPs a month and the Sunday Million costs just 13500 FPPs. I will get to enter two Sunday Millions for free come this December when I can get up at 4am on Monday mornings. Earlier this year I entered the $215 WCOOP HORSE for free using FPPs and managed to cash for around $450 which was a nice bonus. Plus I got to start at the same table as Barry Greenstein.
