Thats exactly the reason why i hate boring monotonous American sport (besides the NBA).

- baseball is just plain awfull (wow what a fanastic batter, he averages hitting the ball 3 times out of 10)

- the boringness of NFL is explained by krunchie just above

- and what is it with americans and only turning left in motor racing, just plain ridiculous.

American sport = poo (besides the NBA)
Riskers gamble, experts calculate.

and i forgot to mention the times where the game is put on pause while there is an ad break on tv, you actually see the ref's looking for a signal before alowing play to occur

but outside of that is is a bloody exciting sport

yes you have to wait for 20 minutes for each 30 second passage of play but in that 30 seconds can be some of the most exciting sport you can see

out side of ice hockey- now theres a real mans sport

go on you tube and search top 10 goals 1996-2006 ( i think)
un real
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

ice hockey is really a canadian sport anyway

NFL would be good if it wasn't for all of the stop start-edness.

can you imagine AFL or rugby or soccer for that matter stopping and having a timeout and changing their whole team every time there is a turnover? it would be just ridiculous.

baseball is like watching paint dry.

NBA is good though

I dont mind NFL... at least not the brief periods of action that it does have.

I very much like how they get out the tape measure in order to be accurate. It's not like it's slowing the game down any :P

i think that the reason some people out there find gridiron boring because of its stop start style is because they dont truly understand the game.

Most see the pads the helmets and big guys bashing heads ever 40 seconds (25 in ncaa). What they dont understand is the tactical battle that is actually taking place,
it is possibly the most startegic team game played in the world, also its not stop start for the players i can assure you all of that.

To say that the play is directed by tv coverage well that is not actually true. The game is played around a play clock which may vary due to certain circumstances such as time outs (the 20 second time out is no longer) 2 minute warnings, incomplete pass so while it may have appeared to be controlled by tv its more likely it was the play clock. Also in saying that TV rights are a major source of revenue for american sports but isnt it nice to not see a uniform covered in company logos.

And even the home grown game here is directed by tv, gotta love waiting for an umpire to bounce a ball because a little light has not flashed yet.

Just to give some idea of the level of tactics used, i have seen a couple of playbooks from the U.S. the University of Nevada offensive playbook was 200 pages long, and that was before pre snap adjustments that may be made.

Brilliant game and painful to play
