Anybody Known when WPT Championship is on ?

Hey I was wondering if anyone knows when the WPT ( World Poker Tour) Championship is Starting in Crown Casino ?

Probably not for a while.

Believe it costs too much too host, and also with all the new events currently starting would probably be better suited to an APPT, or ANZPT, or APT event.

They already have a jewel event with the Aussie Millions. Sydney has the APPT event, so does new Zealand. Its just a matter of having the right mix of series that can get exposure.

The pokernews cup introduces them to a lot more other countries through packages over a few of the poker networks and such.

Plus think the WPT is losing money this year. Can't remember if it was true or not.

Melbourne Champs
Vic Champs
If they do it again Joe Hachem Deep stack series.

Just checked the site and the roughly time aussie millions is on 14th Jan.
It clashes with two other US series. Beau Rivage and Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure.

I recall hearing/reading somewhere that there'll be a few pro's missing from this year's Aussie Millions.. can't remember why though, can only assume it clashes with one of those events you mentioned.

i heard that too - dare say all of the pokerstars sponsored pros wont be there if it clashes with their own event

Full Tilt isn't aligning itself with this years Aussie Millions.

so expect a smaller field, and a lot more involvement by 888poker and other smaller sites.

Pokerstars, expect the locals to be there, i.e Grant Levy, Eric Assodourian, Lee Nelson, The Hachem Boys, Sarah Bilney etc.

Also expect the ex T6 members, Tony G, Tino Lechich, Julian Powell, Jason Gray.

Then don't forget the locals, Peter Aristidou, Andrew Demetriou, Josef Berec, Some of the sydney players, Ali Khalil, Angela Connell, Tim Horan.

SA - James "Andymcleod" Obst, Jay "Seabeast" Kinkade, Rayan "Rkruok" Nathan. Sick MTT players.

Not to mention the people that just love it. Gobboboy, hehehe, Though he might be whereever lederer is just to annoy the pants off him. Not to mention a few other pros that might satellite in, or just want to have fun in the sun in Melbourne.

That is such a shame.

Last year there were so many Americans running around Melb and the Crown wearing those Full Tilt shirts...the atmosphere was awesome.

I will probably catch some of it again this year (although the tennis is the real draw card).

I too will hopefully be sitting in rod laver arena for day one of the aussie open, then head to crown for the end of one of the days of the main event. should be awesome fun.
