So not predictable at all then?

Bacon - that was just ridiculous.

Benschke - GO YOU FORDS, and completely agree about drifting.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Bacon, you obviously have no idea how athletic those guys need to be to concentrate on doing what they do at speed for hours on end.

Great to see plenty of Ford fans on the forum.

Awesome effort by Lowndes, Whincup and the whole Triple 8 team. They outclassed the rest of the field comprehensively all day.
3 Bathurst wins in a row is an awesome achievement in this era of V8supercars.
No one can take anything away from Peter Brock who is a legend (and 3-peated twice), but back in those days HDT's factory outfit didn't have much competition and had a massive funding advantage over everyone else.
Look at the parity between cars (and teams) these days ,the use of safety cars that compress the field and the fact that cross-entering is no longer allowed (Brock achieved 2 of his wins by changing cars) and it highlights just what a massive feat it was.

Moreso I don't care.

My mate is a former Formula 3 Champion (2002), and runner-up in 2003 in Formula 4000... and he gets tired like the rest of us at football training.

formula 3 and formula 4000 are amateur categories, am i right in saying this? and the races would usually only go for half an hour max?

professional drivers like in touring cars or formula one are most definitely in peak physical condition, especially when endurance races are concerned.

the temperature in the cars is well over 50 degrees on a 25 degree day, and if you get a stinker like clipsal a few years back, it was 65+ degrees inside the car. and these drivers are expected to drive in these conditions for at least 2-3 hours.

Racing is as much mental as it is physical.... so you'd be REALLY crap at it Bacon :P

Formula 3 results at Clipsal 500 this year had times between 1 hr 20 & 1 hr 44.. sometimes they have the 2 races, at about 1/2 hour each.

Just because it's amateur, doesn't make it less demanding. In fact, since the V8 Supercar drivers get paid sh!t loads to deal with the conditions, I'd say the amateurs are better (since they'd have to actually work jobs too, like my mate the State Manager of Speedway Racing).

Pete, yes I'd be crap at car racing. I can't get the Go-Karts to go fast when I'm on them... too much weight. And if anyone knows about being mental, it's Ondie. ;)

of course it is more demanding in the professional categories - that is why it is a professional category, because the cars are faster.

dont get me wrong, i am taking nothing away from your mate, but the reason that the V8 supercars is the premier motorsport comp in australia IS because it is the most demanding on drivers.
