Am I the only one getting bored with poker & the Forum

I put this as purely as questions up for debate..

But..

Does anyone feel that the 'routine' behind playing one particular type of poker can make us feel bored?

Eg: Playing regular cash games and not mixing it up with free poker, perhaps playing Omaha, Horse, blah blah blah can make a difference to how you feel about going to another game.

Perhaps playing with the same people week after week can become tedious because at times you know the way they play so well, that you can read them even before the flop comes. Hence there not being a challenge in that at all.

the most fun i have at NPL is when i sit with all of my poker buddies. we usually talk crap and have a laugh.

the poker is also really fun, because it is as much as a clash of wits and egos as it is about cards.

it doesn't matter how many chips are lost, so long as you are attempting to outplay the other player when you have the worst hand, or trapping them with the best hand. this what makes it fun

as soon as you start playing what i call ABC poker (if you have something raise, if you dont fold, rely on the cards winning for you), then this is when it becomes a chore for me.

i know this is my downfall and why i dont win as much as i prolly should, but the battle of wits is the reason i play poker and not other games.

You make some interesting points here ben.

I have been using my online time to try and learn when is the best time to play the cards on the flop rather than those in my pocket, to try and win pots on perceived rather than actual strength. I haven't yet moved this completely into my npl game, prob cos i haven't played much lately.

Thank you all for your comments and genuine replies I really appreciate your input.

As you know I enjoy the verbal challenges and the fun that can be had on a good table with your friends. I must admit that is what keeps me showing up each week.

And David I will definately be there on Sunday as there are a few people I'd like to put some names and faces too from the forum.

bruce, i am sorry to say this, and i hope that this doesn't sound rude or offend you, but when you are on the table, i love it, because i never have to think about my game when you are playing. the way you play means that unless i have a good hand, i am not calling when you bet. and if i am heads up with you, i regularly bet with absolutely nothing, because i know you will fold anything less than top pair with a decent kicker.

so bruce, i think in a way i am throwing down the gauntlet to you.
