Regular venues wouldnt be closing to another venue holding an event.

The only times venues would close would be because of state finals etc...

Well it's not on Des.

There was a whole lot of talk about it not being on due the number of punters going to PG and the NPL up front costs with only 4 or 5 runners who aren't going to the Gardens wasn't financially practical.

I enjoy the company of a Wheatsheaf family member and even on an average night, it's a break even if your lucky syndrome.

Unfortunately, the NPL's upfront fee along with the per head fee is rather harsh for some of the smaller venues such as the Wheaty.

The decision was made to cancel the game by NPL Management and the Venue Management at the Wheatsheaf. The Wheatsheaf will be continuing the next week as usual. I understand what you are trying to say but, making comments about venue fees and charges is inappropriate Bob, this is inconsiquential, considering you are neither a venue manager or an NPL representative.

That it does Steve, but I think Annabelle was more referring to the inference that Bob knew exactly what he was talking about, as though he was in a position to actually know all of the facts.

To be blunt, the venues costs and the NPL's charges in relation to that really are the domain of ... the venue and the NPL and nobody else really.

By all means be a bit cranky with something and air it constructively on here if feedback is required.

The 'Ask the NPL' section is for just such a thing.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Hi there Annabelle it's so nice to hear from you even under these circumstances. I was unaware one needed to be a venue manager or an NPL representative to comment on a subject related to fees (amounts not mentioned) being difficult to cover with a handful of people.

As I said in my post. I am a friend of a family member who was concerned and did discuss it the on going costs etc with me personally. I don't want to go into detail because it doesn't concern you Big Pete or the forum.

However, I have been involved with the Wheatsheaf one way or another since the 70's when I had glass houses around the corner from the pub. so I feel I have some idea of how it supports the area and it's patrons.

I wasn't aware the NPL costs were a secret, I've been aware of them since the first season but if they are then it's not a good secret.

Annabelle, I'm sure you'll agree it is somewhat harder for the smaller venues but for the likes of the Wheaty we are there to support them and they in turn are happy to support their punters.

I'm somewhat surprised you never said anything to me at the Gardens when I said hello to you on two seperate occasions!!!! Unfortunately, I was unaware of your reply to my post.

I'm sorry if you misunderstood my concerns and I hope that I have cleared it up a little. Please feel free to speak to me about any subject as I'm always available. Regards Bob B
