Steve's magical sunglasses

Postby Chelsea4thewin » Mon Nov 24, 2008 2:29 pm

i dont know why but everytime i wear these magical sunnies my poker improves dramatically, i bluff, look for weakness and all round play a solid aggressive type game which i never seem to bring to the paradise or most NPL regular games

i have come to the conclusion that the bigger stack is the reason i seem to do better in home games and special NPL events, with the larger stack i am able to make a mistake and not be crippled

Pete must of noted my very poor performance on wednesday at the parafield, the sunnies were missing

What do u think this could be? the sunnies are good luck or maybe im not concerned at people reading my bad bad poker face 8-)

I kid you not I was saying to Scott this morning that we should hunt down a little Superman style "S" for those sunnies because they clearly gie you super powers :D

I look at it like this.... if you have seen Erik the Viking you will be familiar with a cloak of invisibility that doesn't really work at all (except on the girls father).

Steve, those sunnies are your very own invisibility cloak... it's all in your head mate :P
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Stevie G... sounds like you've found your lucky rabbit's foot..

Relaxation and comfort zone are my keys to a good game/play..

The 'sunnies' seem to give you a edge or cover to perform well.

I've found me and my "froggy" seem to combine well together

gives me a distraction .I dont fiddle with my chips and he gaurds my short stack when I'm away...

if it works for you use it , I think some books refer to it as " Table presence/ image...etc...

Its an interesting concept. The state final on the weekend was the first time i had ever worn sunnies in an event. The only reason i decided to wear them was that they were still on my head from the drive in and there was enough light for it not to be too dark.

The thing it did help me with was the observation of other players. I do like to study other players very closely - the way the hold their cards, play with their chips, tap their feet, how quickly their jugular is pulsing, eyebrow movements etc. I found that i could study a player a lot more closely without them realising it. Normally if a player realises that you are staring at them they will either look away or put their 'poker face on'. So sunnies were a great way to watch people without them knowing it.

It worked especially well when a flop was being dealt. One of the best things i have read to do is to watch the other players face when the flop is being uncovered. It is quite easy to see whether a player is happy or dissapointed with a particular flop, as most players watch the flop closely as it is being rolled out and it will always be there for me to look at later. Sunnies helped with this observation too.

I like them, and will definately be wearing them again, especially for special events.
