Proposed Changes for 2009.

Postby Garth Kay » Thu Nov 27, 2008 4:08 pm

NPL contractors have now had a fortnight to discuss the changes for 2009.

I now open it up to players on this forum to have a read of these proposed changes and offer their feedback.

There are quite a few changes and new inclusions so read throughly. Hope you like them.

As of season 1, 2009, you will notice some major and minor changes to the NPL competition. The changes you need to be aware of are the following:

- Points multipliers for 1st, 2nd and 3rd increased to 1.5x, 1.2x, 1x respectively, the remainder of the positions remain the same.

- Bonus Bounty points for eliminating staff in events. Points will be equal to that of 15th. If a player makes the points they receive those points instead of the bonus.

- Mid Season regional event: Week 6 of each season will see a regional event being held.

Metro regions will combine to have one large $5,000 event and other regional areas will have anywhere from $500 - $1,500 supplied in prize pools for this.

Metro event will require 3FTT's for entry, regional will only require 1FTT. These FTT's must be accumulated in the first five weeks of the season. These mid season events will be held in a different format each season; Season 1 will be a shootout format, season 2 can either be a deepstack event or partners event.

- Venue and regional LDB prizes. All players who finish first on a venue or regional leaderboard will receive a glass trophy or nominal prize.

- State Leaderboard is reduced, only 1st and 2nd receive money and trophy - $1,000 for first, $500 for second. The previous $5,000 has been redistributed to other areas.

- State Finals no longer exsist, in it’s stead we will hold a seasonal NPL championship series.
o This replaces the state finals and is designed to bring all NPL players together 5 times a year instead of having satellite events and states on different weekends.

o 3 day event beginning with a charity buy in event “Pr 4 a Cause” one Friday night or. We may close off on Sunday night with a similar event.

o Satellite event on Sat day(must obtain 3 Final Table Tokens in the last five weeks of the season to enter). In the first two seasons for Victoria we will offer two Vic Champs ME packages and in South Australia we will offer two Adelaide ME packages.

o A $2K teams event on Sat night(Finish on the top 10 of the regional leader board and qualify for the teams event). Represent your region! All regional ldb winners are team captains. 1st - 8th play, 9th and 10th are reserves.

o $25K Main Event on the Sunday (top 5 at venue, top 50 on state leader board, top 3 on regional leader board qualify). We will try and create a deepstack final for this event. 5K start stacks and 30 minute blinds are the target, but depending on venue restrictions this event might be required to be held as a flight system

o Venue Winner Bonus (the highest placed ‘venueaderboard winner’ in thein Event receives $1000, 2nd receives $500 and 3rd gets $300)

- There will also be a 2K Venue staff championship held on whatever night we can find at the venue. This is seperate to the NPL competition and something we offer to NPL venues.

- FTT's that have been accumulated thus far are null and void in the new year. Unless for random events not apart of the regular NPL competition.

- Double point weeks in Week 7 and 9. This is a possibility and we will see how much negative feedback we receive after the Double December promotion. Still up for debate. I am yet to see the outcome of this promotion in December.

- I would also like to include some forum special events. Perhaps an annual deepstack or teams event but only for forum members who register their interest.

- I would also like to work with the casinos and offer NPL only satellite events with rebuys and addons. Do we need a qualification Method or open it up to all players?

that sounds like an awesome weekend of poker - friday through to sunday

i also like the FTT used to enter the satellites instead of winning an event - i think this will make the field a lot stronger for the satellites.

definitely DEFINITELY hold the deepstack again - that was the highlight of the year in my opinion.

i also like the bonus points for the top 3 - it means it will be a lot harder to fold down to 8th or 12th every week and still make states.

can you explain this a bit more? is this similar to the sky city tourneys, or is it a fully fledged casino tourney open to NPL players only?

I haven't yet taken all these in, but there are some interesting changes.

Re: Bounty Bonus. If you knock out more than 1 staff member, do you only receive one bonus (which is voided by making points)?

Like the 1.5, 1.2 & 1 multiplier for 1st-3rd.

NPL Championships sounds better than State Finals. Like it.

So far, I'm happy. Season 1, 2009 I am making a comeback :)
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

another question..

what time did this season's state finals finish? (i think it might have been around 11pm judging by the railing on here)

if the stacks are deeper and the blinds more relaxed, what time is the tournament expected to finish? might have to start the tourney really early like 930 to stop it finishing at some really late time.

benny the cunt,

I would like to work with Casino's by offering some low buy in NPL only tournaments or direct buy in Satellites with rebuys and addons for NPL players only.

Many NPL players enjoy the tournaments offered at casino's but many also don't wish to take the next step as they often feel underskilled, but they do feel much more comfortable playing in that environment with only other NPL members at the table.

Leave the times fro events up to us!!!!!! Just kidding, I would like to see what the whole tournament structure was for the Port Club, for the amount of attendees it does seem an exceptionally late finish.

I like this idea.

Bonus Bounty points for eliminating staff in events. Points will be equal to that of 15th. If a player makes the points they receive those points instead of the bonus.

Again, this is cool. I like that its something extra, but not unfair to the other players (cos if you make points it don't count anyway).

State Finals no longer exsist, in it’s stead we will hold a seasonal NPL championship series.

Awesome :D

3 day event beginning with a charity buy in event “Pr 4Cause” oneiighre mclooff dayght w a iv.alitvent Saty(m ainFinTek ine lasiveeks sen to enter). Hell yeah! A 3 day[event sou[ds like great[fun. The 2k region [hingy sounds interesting - and the starting stacks for States, well... You all know how I feel about that, I might have a need for new pants ;)

- FTT's that have been accumulated thus far are null and void in the new year. Unless for random events not apart of the regular NPL competition.

So can we use them for season 1, 2009? Do they have any use at all? Cos I have like, 17 or something...

I would also like to include some forum special events. Perhaps an annual deepstack or teams event but only for forum members who register their interest.

Really like this. Anything that includes the forum with NPL is always a good idea - David's freeroll is a good indication of this.

I would also like to work with the casinos and offer NPL only satellite events with rebuys and addons. Do we need a qualification Method or open it up to all players?

It sounds like you've got enough events that need qualification already - why not just open it up to all players? But cap it to first 300, etc.

And I'm excited to play NPL again :D

The $25k Sunday event sounds just like a state final to me :P

I very much like the idea of it being a weekend full of events though.

I like those changes, some great ideas in there.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Main Event - not State Finals - Pete you're an idiot.

And I say that with the most heartfelt warmth I possibly can.
