my man-crush on macgill should have no bearing.

What did hayden do in england last time? Failed... Cos the ball was swinging and pitch deviating. It took his 9th innings there to save his career, but also ruin the Test.

Why is an opener getting run out? Why hit the ball straight to mid-off and try for a risky single? It was a Test that we had the advantage, and that risk was stupid, and hayden deserved to get himself out.

As my English mate said, who hates Langer with a passion, "the gnome is ten times the opener than the flat track bully"

im not saying hayden has been a bad player all his career, hell i used to love the guy but the last few months he has played at a sub-standard level and i feel these players dominating the best domestic competition should be given a shot at the big time

countless times in test and one day matches has Hayden come out trying to hit every ball over the bowlers head only to be caught in the outfield

just my 2 cents

I was moreso thinking of a new thread to discuss the validity of the current Australian line-up, and for you all to start offering up your alternates.

the australian state competition is by far the best second tier comp in the world - the england county system has a lot of international players playing, but there are 18 teams in county cricket, and they can only have a limited number of internationals per team

Victoria would beat a lot of test sides at the moment - they would have easily beaten new zealand

Interesting you say that scott, and im going to have to delve into the part of my brain reserved for only the most useless/interesting of sports trivia, but Matt Hayden DID actually play some games for south australia. The second XI mind you, while he was over here at the now-in-brisbane cricket academy. Other players such as Michael Bevan and Darren Berry also played for SA. There was massive debate at the time as to whether these academy players could be allowed to play for SA, because i know the the latter two actually played for SA's first XI. Not sure if hayden did or not also, maybe some other cricket tragic can confirm this.

But its always a good pub convo started of you mention that michael bevan once played for SA.

Dammit, i should have revived the sports trivia thread. That still had the biggest % of my posts compared to any other thread :D
