Question re: Bryce McGain.
He will be closer to 38 than 37 when the next Ashes series rolls around. Who thinks - and this predicated on him actually performing at a level he's yet to be tested at - he will be playing till he's 42 or 43? He came late to cricket, so physically you would think it's possible, but based on his age, would his head naturally be called for once he hits the "38 - time to go" barrier?

You seriously are a twat, I guess other peoples opinions dont count unless Steve G agree's with them.
Maybe take off your mom's sunnies and open your eyes. Oh hang on you are a Chelsea supporter.
Klinger should be considered, but it is not time to kick out Hayden. Thats what I'm saying.
Wait and see how he does against South Africa and then make the decision.

Re: ashes tour 2009
must be a st paul's thing.
Scott, i don't think mcgain is the answer. Age is against him. The selectors need to select someone and give them a year, no matter what. Warne's career started slowly, and he became the master because he needed to.
Hauritz and krejza have the upper hand but it's there for the taking. Bailey may need to move to nsw.

I agree Bacon - McGain won't be the long term spinning answer. Krezja for mine is the long term prospect.

Re: ashes tour 2009
there is no way klinger will be considered - YET.
rogers, hodge, katich, and others average 60-100 for years in a row, and they still cant regularly break into the test team
katich was probably lucky, as injuries to hayden and jaques gave him an opportunity to get back into the team.
brice mcgain i agree is pretty old, but what is the alternative? krezja is young, around 25, so that hopefully means he has a lot of improvement in him, but at the moment he doesn't really scream to get picked.
even though he got 12 wickets in a test in india, they were for about a million runs, so there is really no use in that - you are not going to win test matches giving away that many
no other spinners in domestic cricket really deserved to get picked, i mean hauritz FFS.
in all places except the subcontinent, it would nearly be better off developing clarke symonds and katich in their bowling so that they can bowl more overs and playing watson or another pace bowler.
interesting time in aussie cricket, much more interesting than when australia are winning 17 in a row and only having to bat once per test.

And umm, because he's naturally gifted and brilliant.
Not just anyone could have been there at that point and become the the master because they needded to.

Re: ashes tour 2009
benny the cunt, what were warne's debut figures.
Yes krezja went for a few, but wickets on the sub, that's impressive.
Still, no-one is screaming out to be picked as the spinner.

Re: ashes tour 2009
klinger
averages 34 in first class cricket - he has 2344 runs in 44 matches
in the last 5 matches, he has scored 775 of those runs. so before this season, his average was less than 30
by contrast, hodge averages 47 over 215 matches, hussey averages 55 over 125 matches, rogers averages 50 over 150 matches.
so in short, klinger has a lot more work to do to even be considered, since the players that have cricket australia contracts are making a mountain of runs also
possibly the worst statement in the history of this forum
warne got smacked around in india, because, well they are indians, and they start bowling spin before they can walk.
warne took 8 wickets in his 4th match, and never really looked back from there. so if thats starting slowly, then...

What benny the cunt said re: klinger. Good player, but 6 good matches doesn't get you a spot ion australias top order.

Re: ashes tour 2009
i never actually said klinger should go straight into the side for Hayden but i said if this form continues he should be considered
so if he continues to make 100's he wont be considered because Rogers, Hodge etc have had a more consistent 2 or 3 years, that in my opinion is bulls**t
