Poker IS an ego game, no doubt about it, its hard to lose to someone that you know you can beat, but it will happen over and over throughout your poker career, you just gotta know how to handle it.

I remember when i went for the NPL job in Adelaide and we had a game of poker first up.

What an awesome job interview! But it was not to see if we could play, just to see if our shuffling and dealing were up to scratch.

I remember that Garth was the first busted out and i don't think he cared one little bit. (well maybe, i would've, but he didn't seem to)
Now i get beaten quite regularly, but it doesn't bother me as much as it used to.

I got completely pantsed one game by a few drunken uncles, who hadn't even played before, and boy do you reckon they let me know about every time they see me! "You still doing that Poker stuff? Amazing......seeing as you can't play the game any good!.....AHAHAHAH"

Now, if i wanna talk smack, i save it for the tables.

I don't reckon i'm great, i'm just happy to be better than most :)

weve all ready established that toddy likes to play against the lesser players up river. He doesnt want decent players stealing his easy money
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

I consciously looked for tells on the table tonight, and it paid off.

Saw a quick chip glance after seeing the cards... I knew Kate was strong. I folded. After Des calls with 88, she showed AK. If I hadn't seen the glance, I would've called the raise (and got paid off, but still...). I hadn't really looked for tells enough.

And it paid off.... I won my first tourney since November 2007 :D

Spoiler:
Against a field of 13

I've heard really good things about Kill Phil and Harrington's Cash games volumes. Might have to check either out - I have been looking at moving up another level in poker.
