Re: Ask Garth!
Hey guys, can I try to explain last nights "Final Table" fiasco, the cash game hit the final table before the freerole, with only 1 final table available it was decided to play down to 8 players for the final table, being closely observed by both TD (myself) and TA (jason), the final 8 was self dealt , again under close scrutiny by both of us,then I sat in and dealt the final 7, under the circumstances we felt this was the fairest and easiest way around the predicament we found ourselves in.
As for the chip up rule, I was only doing as I was instructed, I did word it to 1 player (whom i obviosly wrongly thought would not take it litterally) that if you thought you were chipped up incorectly it was basically stiff carp , I appolagise for the wording here and will appolagise openly next week(if i am working that shift).
As for the wrong person getting points, this will be rectified ASAP , sorry Mackie (my responability which was designated to another ).
Cheers Ernie

Hi there Queeny. I played my small venue last night (trying to keep the numbers up) unfortunately only 20 runners showed. I made the final table with around $6.4k.
The blinds opened at $300/$600 I'm small blind with Kc Qs. UG and #1 player both call, #2 folds, #3 decided to raise to $1200, #4 calls, #5 & #6 fold around to me and I call too thinking the others will call making it a nice $7,200 pot.
I thought it was worth calling an extra $900 to see the flop with a $7.200 pot. Then BB has a monumental brain warp and goes ALLIN for $5,600 dam. UG, #1, #3 call and #4 folds around to me.
Without weighing up the possabilities of me drawing dead for almost of my chips I called too!!!!!!! What the hell was I thinking???
I know it was a $28k pot but shit we're looking at double points the initial raiser is a 2 pair or 2 very high cards raiser (female too) and the allinner is also a pair or better player. The other 2 will play any 2 cards any time so I assume they had crap.
So, I turn KQ off BB has 66, UG has J8 hearts, #1 has total crap low cards unsuited and #3 turns over her A 10 hearts. Yep we all check it down and you guessed it, the 10 hits and it's goodnight BB.
Next hand I have AK off and go allin with my $900 and get 4 callers whoohooo. My AK holds up and I'm back with $3,600.
Next hand I look down at KQ hearts and call the $800 blind and the flop comes K 10 7 rainbow. They all check around to me and obviouly I think I have enough chips to push so I go allin with my $2,800. Two call and another one goes allin with $3,600 and the other 2 call.
The two live players (big pot and anything goes) decide to check it down turn was a 9 and the river was a 6 allin has JJ previous big pot winner has A Q and I call with anything guy shows 98 off to make a straight.
How funny was that?? Everyone actually had a piece of the flop and the leading hand at the flop lost LOL.
DD Points didn't make too much of a difference for me I stay in 7th. But 3rd dropped to 6th, 4th went to 3rd, 6th went to 5th and the biggest mover was 8th into 4th place. Mind you we have only had a total of 44 players for the overall season and a good night is around 30 runners.
I suppose the movementment will be greater at some of the bigger tourneys I used to play at before. Take care and sorry for the long post, but I did write it vewy, vewy, slow so you Vics can read it!

Re: Ask Garth!
hi bob, I loved reading your post, no need to write slowly, or to pic on us vics, we have been very pleasant to deal with this far, so let's keep it that way ... lol ....
last night I dropped 36 places on the state leader board and my husband dropped from 9th to 14th ... 2nd dropped to 7th ... this affects all the prize money - this is the last season the top 10 will be paid, next season only 1st and 2nd will be paid. so to all those who have played their hearts out early in the season, to have this dumped on them it's a shame and I feel for them.
I am also noticing, by going through the players lists, that there are names I have never seen there before, so perhaps it is bringing players from other venues, pity, cos those other venues will now suffer at the hands of the bigger ones.
good on you for supporting your local small venue, regardless of points. I wish more people considered that too. good luck for the rest of the season - I am sure we will talk more soon .. queen 9 ...

Re: Ask Garth!
I'm still waiting for my misdirected points (see above posts) as they directly affect my standings on the leaderboard, and even though I am not in the top 20..to me every bit counts
If i keep making continuous final tables as I am, then I will be there...I like to see my progress as it helps me grow as a player and gives me a confidence boost when I see how well I do.

Re: Ask Garth!
Hey there Ernie,
First of all... Please let me apologize for kind of going off last night. It wasn't meant to sound as bad as it was.
I have the utmost respect for you as a person and a NPL TD. You've never done me wrong.
It is not, nor was it ever my intention to make u sound bad or get you in any sort of trouble.
My night just seemed to go from bad to worse...
When i got home and I checked my ranking and saw that my points were given to someone else and it kinda got to me and I shouldn't have let it.
I started to put pen to paper (fingers to keyboard) and couldn't stop.
I just didn't see how that happened but oh well...as long as I can reclaim them asap !!
NO apology is necessary at all Ernie, you were just doing your job and I was having a 'vent'.
Jase.

Re: Ask Garth!
Jase, thanks, all is good mate. Will explain in person why i couldnt fix your points straight away myself, but i see that they are fixed up now.
Mate next time you wanna have a "vent", maybe wait a day or two, or at least till the morning ha ha, before posting in the public forums.
You saw the situation we were in last night in regards to not enough tables etc and i feel we did a great job "eventually" seating all the reserves and still running bad beats and wannabees and having a good time as well. All I do is try my best.
Cheers Ernie

Hi allinnolook, It is not you who constantly has the short chip stacks, but I think I know who it is - and if I am correct, they play with us sometimes in a homey ... I have heard some stories over the past couple of weeks and will be keeping a close eye on anything that looks sus and is wearing concrete shoes.

Re: Ask Garth!
Hi Rosemary,
I know you have posted quite a few articles here and I am not sure what to reply to. Do you need answers to anything? That I haven't answered or haven't answered thoroughly enough.
I know Garry called you today and we have our concerns and we will discuss these with you when we organise a meeting. Apparently you gave Garry 1 page of notes which he and I will go through when I get back into Melbourne.

Hi Garth, I think you responded to everything in one way or another ... oh, except rule 2, as shown in the game rules section on the npl website, where it clearly says that players are encouraged to witness the colour up. perhaps if this rule was adhered to instead of us being ordered out of the poker area, players could not complain. and I am sure if they were offered the choice of watching or going for a drink or cigarette, the novelty would soon wear off and only a handful of players would remain. there is nothing wrong with asking them to leave the area once their chip up is done... so do them first and get rid of them .. It also seems a bit harsh that one player, who continually complains of being short, ruins it for the rest of us. a td gave me a wrong chip up the other night, right in front of me... for my drink cards, and then she admitted that her mind was elsewhere and she wasn't paying attention... luckily, the player to my left saw what happened as I had stood out of her way so she could get to the rest of the table and did not notice what she did. I did get my chips corrected by the way.
