I am sorry to keep canning this, but a player received 179.8 points for coming 3rd at a venue with less than 100 players... and this has now put him straight into the middle of the top 10 on the state leaderboard.
and those of us who are not getting the cards, have not improved our hard earned efforts from earlier in the season, will end up right outside the top 50, therefore affecting our chances to even make the state final.
This is what I mean by shifting the goal posts. We start the season playing under the 'then' points system, and with little more than a week or so notice, mid way throught the season, we are told of a promotion that will affect not only our points, but where we finish on the venue, regional and state leaderboards.
this in turn affects our eligibility for the state final and any prizes that may be available for venue and/or regional leaders. so we start the season under one set of rules and then they get changed - mid season.
season 1, 2008 there were regional prizes given out for the 2nd season running. I competed towards winning this prize in season 2, only to be told it had been scrapped, but not before I had played the season - after the season was over, while we were waiting to find out exactly who finished where.
This is what leads to player frustration, so when we see all these new things planned, we sit and wonder firstly, how they will work, and secondly, if it doesn't appear to be going well, are npl going to pull the pin on it mid season, as they have before.
It's just a pity you did not decide that d.d. - due to the adverse comments and feedback I have seen, should only run for a week, so let's shorten it, with little notice as that is all it took to introduce it.
Again, I am sorry if this sounds negative, but it is sheer frustration you are hearing, and not only mine.
this is the last time I will comment on this matter in the forum, I gather you will all be happy about that, but I just wanted to explain it calmly. as for my record of the highest average of a state leaderboard winner - it will be smashed due to dd, which is a pity, cos my average was done the hard way, no bonus points to help me. but records won't show that, the figures are what show, and not that dd distorted them.
