I think top 25 would be good, as top 50 would have the bottom 25 receiving a pretty small prize.
Based on $20,000
1st --------- $ 5000
2nd --------- $ 3500
3rd --------- $ 2000
4th --------- $ 1600
5th --------- $ 1250
6th --------- $ 1050
7th --------- $ 850
8th --------- $ 650
9th --------- $ 500
10th-12th --- $ 350
13th-15th --- $ 275
16th-18th --- $ 200
19th-21st --- $ 175
22nd-25th --- $ 150
Remember guys, this is just an idea.

Top 25 looks better to me Mr Des. That's 5 more than current.
If the top 20 was kept it'd still be fine.
Curious to know if 20k is the proposed amount of moolah in the pool or if it's just easy to use as an example.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Hmmmmm. There are so many things to organise, first off, before we can confirm prize pool for state finals; at a minimum it will be 10K with other bonuses for metro players. I believe this season will be 20K, if we do go ahead with it. I can't discuss too much of what is in the pipeline, but there will be some big players involved.
On another note (read: here's a hint) Lee Nelson was at the Vic State Finals this Saturday gone signing his new book and having a fun time and talking to a lot of players, for all of you who do not know who Lee Nelson is his nickname is "Final Table" and he is one of the best poker players the southern hemisphere has ever produced.
It was really great of the Bluff Mag team to organize something like that for NPL, I hope we can continue to support each other in the near future.

Shane Warne presenting me with a new car would be rather neat
Petrol monies to the others -- Top Twenty.
1st --$ 5000
2nd --$4000
3rd --$3000.
4th --$2000
5th to 10th -$1000
10 to 20th - $500.
would make a interesting start.

Just curious, but the first two state finals offered a trip to an 'exotic location' for 7 nights with a seat to an 'international tournament'. All very vague. I am wondering how much that was worth. I heard rumours it was at least 10K. If this is true, why is the third final first prize being downgraded to $5,000? Am I mistaken?, please enlighten me.

there are 5 seasons this year rather than 2, so u cant expect them to offer the same prize money. additionally, i guess they would have been thrown a lot of cash to get NPL in SA going as well.
i think a 20K prize pool for the state finals is still pretty good

Because we are moving towards a national competition. Also we have decided that all freeroll tournaments should have a proper payout structure with cash on the line not prizes.
There will still be chances to play for entry into major poker tournaments but it will not be at the state finals rather through qualifying methods and satelittes. And as previously stated there is plenty more still in the pipeline but may take up until third season to get off the ground. We have doubled our prize pool for SA this year. Granted Season 1 has been a bit of a let down so far but there has been so much on, AM, 150K champs and discussions with other corporate affiliates.
We have also bought in regional leaderboard prizes and set state Leaderboard prizes. Also with the structure of last season's state final the winner walked away with a package worth 10,000 and second walked away with a package worth 2,000. Not very fair as far as I am concerned.
But if we get enough people saying that they want to go back to the old system we will change it, this system has been trialled in Victoria for the last three seasons and they love it over there.
