MP then min rasies. A call would leave me with only 700, so i figure this is the point i make a stand and i push. He calls showing [jd][10d]

Nit = rock.

Nit is someone who plays fairly straightforward poker, only plays top 10% of hands and will generally just play solid poker without ever getting adventurous. They will only generally get their chips into a pot with the nuts.

Thanks garth cheers for that. Yep thats me normally, play for 3 hours, 10% of hands and finally get my chips in in front, only to get a beat and finish mid-late in the tourney and either just miss the cash (the case here) or get a low cash that may as well have not been worth it.


I think at times im too tight, so that even when i do make a hand i dont get paid for it. I have tried loosening up but then i gotta be prepared to put my stack on the line at times with marginal holdings.
