I've had a bit more time to think over the Sunday event and add a little bit more to my original thought on the day, so here goes.

I thought the concept was a great idea and whether you or others wanted to collect or use your FTT was up to the individual.

Mr Nice guy
Note this isn't a whinge, just my view on the FTT tourney, mainly negatives as I didn't attend. If I was there, I'm sure I would have loved the different formats.
-timing and notice given, too close to Xmas, too much to do.
-what were the prizes? From what people have stated, nothing substantial was up for grabs so it didn't really make it worth it trying to collect FTT throughout the season/year.

Personally, I prefered the key rings as a final table tokens. At least you can hang them on something or give them away to non poker playing friends as a gift.

Yes, I must agree the timing was bad and not only because Xmas was so close but there were still some punters trying to make points at one or more of the 17 remaining tournaments being played on the very last day of the season!! I'm sure NPL will put more thought into it next time.

The prizes could have been some-what more attractive seeing there was supposed to be around 3 to 4 hundred runners. Considering NPL is seen to be of a Professional and National Organisation, one would expect prizes to be of a higher value.

I also liked the Bad Beat type tourney as a filler to help retain the players a little bit longer for a shoot out comp in the afternoon after lunch.

Let's hope those bloody DVD's have finally been used up or at least shelved or donated to a kindergarden so the kids can paint them and string them up as mobiles. :o

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Having said all of the above I think it would be a great end of season venue where we can "ALL" celebrate the end of the NPL year all together. The start time could be earlier and maybe have the team event first. And if the Ark were smart enough they could have a set menu for our lunch break.

I'm thinking like everyone. Not just the NPL punters but also the TD's and Management could play and have a great day with us as well.

Because if it's a team event not all of the TD's or management would be seated so there would still be TD's on the floor.

Hey, it was a great day, and yes, the prizes could have been a little better and I'm sure that will be corrected next time.

But, I'd rather see everyone who wants join in and celebrate the end of the year with our TD's and management play a teams event and have some fun with bounties and prizes.

I'm sure all the non thinking TD's would be more than happy to be taken out by one of their non thinking players in their Region, or visa versa. :o

I realise the guys and gals who TD all year are also looking for a break but this would be a fun day as well as a genuine competition that they can also enjoy.

For those mentioning how it was a long day etc....

Someone said this earlier (words to the effect of)...

"Got knocked out of the shootout and didn't want to wait around, there was a side tournament going but just couldn't be bothered (but thought I would complain anyway about having nothing to do, even though that's my own fault)"

:D

People knew before showing up that the shootout was first and that if they sucked at that they'd hafta wait for the partners event. I don't recall the side tourney being mentioned anywhere but you all still showed up anyway! :P

It's a bit rich to be moaning now about things you knew of in advance. Funnily enough discussing that kind of thing prior to the event could be done... oh... on here maybe?
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Playing with the TD's and management sounds like a fun idea.

I was hoping there were more books to go around, because I did find those prizes attractive.
We've how about links I would like to know I walk the line scrunches line at how the client Lawrence etc. etc.

im gonna stay out of this... i dont wanna fight and its xmas and im gonna go get drunk

one thing im gonna say is: it seems to me that no matter what the NPL do, no one is ever happy... it was their first every FTT tournament and it was promote as a fun day of poker, with some prizes available... well I HAD FUN!

if you dont like the drive, dont come next time... it was never promoted as having huge prizes... it was never promoted as a short day

Here! Here! Des. I totally enjoyed the day and as you said it was there in black and white or blue and black, if you knoiw what I mean.

Now that it has been done and dusted I thought it was a good idea to get some feedback for Garth and company. And as I said b4 the concept was great and I feel it would also be a great end of year get together for everyone.

Hey, I've just come up with a   BRILLIANT IDEA

I'll even put a bounty on myself and I'm sure the rest of you FORUM POSTERS like yourself, Dave, Bacon, benny the cunt, Scotty, Big Pete, Bruce, Aaron and many more would also be up to the task. Plus the bounties on our TD's and Management. :o

Just think of all the bounty prizes you could win if you had a good day on the tables, and a chance to also win a trophy and cash prizes. WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!!

Come on Garth Annabelle & Co. make it happen!

Make it a really special day and open up the bank vault and put on a really fun day for the end of the season and year.

Maybe NPL could chip in some cash towards a buffet lunch at the ARK or even a BBQ at one of the larger club venues or maybe have it in the New Year B4 the season starts.

Like I said before, it's feedback time for Garth & Co. to look at for next year and these are just some ideas I have floating around in my head.

Merry Xmas to you all and a Happy New Year, and please drive safely.

You have to be kidding Bob.
I'm not touching this one.

Prizes will be as prizes announced. I would only contemplate running anything of the sort for those players who had played more than 300 games in a year.

There are other ideas for FTT's and there will be larger prize pools at times. But for people to complain that we had a $1,000 prize pool and that wasn't enough for one day of fun.........

I won't finish that thought.

It's free poker on the day, it's enjoyable and something put together rather quickly as a one off event before Christmas. Don't expect miracles nor a million dollar prize pool nor for NPL to put on food and drink for everybody who had made 4 final tables in over 30 weeks of play.

And to finish up, I am really after feedback on the event itself and how the day was run, and whether people would do it again.

If i asked for feedback for every single idea/promotion/prize pool I would be on this forum 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Final questions:

Did you enjoy yourself? Was it too long a day? Would you do it again? What would you change about the structure if you could?

I don't want to hear another thing on prize pools or what NPL should be putting up or any comments of the "open up the bank vault" variety.

If all we really cared about was the money would we seriously run an event of this in two states at a loss of over $2,000 per event. Plus the time and energy required to plan and execute the event.

I've already PM'd you my thoughts and left them here, but yes, I did enjoy myself. It wasn't perfect, but with a few small changes it could be an excellent day. The day wasn't too long, I was prepared for it. We went home and had a cash game into the early hours of the night, anyway. I would go again.
