Welcome to NPL 2009!
The Highlander has big plans for poker this year. First of all, we are staying with Wednesday night games and will be introducing the Sunday arvo session around April/May.
prize amounts have changed also, we are giving away $100 every wednesday for the winner and there will be final prize at the end of the season of $500 for the point leader! Even more incentive to keep your points up!
Our beer fo the month will get you recieving 3 stamps per purchase. This month it's Tooheys Extra Dry and Barefoot Radler at $5 a pop.
We will also be doing full cards of stamps at random intervals for certain drinks. So make sure you ask at the bar.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to post all your ideas and suggestions, or things that you have seen at other venues that really caught your attention.
Good luck and we hope to see you at the Highlander.
Corinne

Re: Poker at the Highlander 2009
I'd suggest the signage in the downstairs area is changed to reflect the new prize money... cos you possibly could get done for false advertising.
Free shots on the chocolate machine would be appreciated. Pulled out plenty tonight, mind you.
Keep me winning on the Keno, like tonight, and I'm happy
The pies were missed this evening.

Re: Poker at the Highlander 2009
SO, I ended up at the Highlander last night, the 10 minutes drive up NE Road was a little longer than the 4 minute walk to the Kentish, but I still had a good night.
Highlights were the beer of the month which was not only $5, but also gave you 3 stamps. The poker area has lots of room upstairs, but last night there were reserves as there weren't enough tables. And it was also good to be at a venue that had a bad beats table and 2nd break redraw. Has something changed with the 1st break draw, now 2k? Finally, mini pizzas at the 2nd break were absolute gold, keep the good work up.
On a side note, I folded my first NPL straight flush
. Blinds 50/100, I'm mid-position with [jh] [8h], i call. Someone goes all-in for their remaining 1k (just lost both cards so went in blind). 1 calls his all-in with big stack (like mine), so I fold otherwise I would have called. Hit my straight flush on the turn
