I agree that a newstory on the front, with the list of qualifiers is the best way to go, but the suggestion of a drop down menu was made by a player who found the list was in a main story, with every qualifying list, state and every regional final, all under the one ... usually it is under the newstory for each region.
and for what it's worth, I love the sms idea to get us info quickly ... how about sending an sms that can be responded to - re questions like - how would you like to see npl move forward, or how can npl improve - I saw questions like that last night in another topic ... as we are an sms generation, perhaps that is a good way to get some feedback - and you won't necessarily know who it is from unless you go looking up phone numbers, but you could capture a lot of thoughts from those who are mobile texters as they are a plenty.
you could send out a new question each monday morning and offer a ftt chip if they add their rego number... this may be an incentive.
Just a slight problem with that, we SMS from a wholesaler that is a non reply wholesaler of bulk SMS. That means we can send from our SMS tool but cannot receive, some suppliers do enable both but it does become expensive.
Secondly, even though we are dealing direct with our market base we really shouldn't be sending more than two SMS' to a player in any given 48 hour period, I actually extend that period to 7 days. The reason behind this is it can be a breach of privacy laws to send too many text's or direct marketing material/media out to consumers in a given time frame.
In regards to the drop down menu, it is a good idea but we are canning regional's and moving to a mid season event with the end of season NPL championships. That way there wont be too many "special event" been played in a two week time frame, free it up a bit and allows us to communicate one special event at a time. I like the idea though and as long as it doesn't become too difficult or time consuming I am up for it.
I will speak to Steve and see what he can do, but I am sure that if he does want to implement it it won't be active until the new website goes live.
