Hey all,
Just thought I would post my thoughts on what I think is a really good venue. I went to the Semaphore Hotel the other day for the first time after having a nice stroll along the beach and found it quite a pleasant experience
The Semaphore Hotel hosts 2 NPL games a week, on Mon and Fri and has offers cash prizes for 1st ($100), 2nd ($75) and 3rd ($50) with only about 30-40 runners each week. What other venues offer such good cash prizes for the first three players? The poker tables are located in a nicely decked out beer garden with a beautiful water feature which I thinks makes the game really enjoyable with a great atmosphere. The stamp policy is pretty good, you can also purchase a meal in the cafe primo next door and they will stamp you up (even on gelati!...mmmm....). Not only that but they bring out pizza for all the players at the second break just to make sure you are fed during the game.
And the best part of it all is that is located about 100m from the beach so if you get knocked out early (or win $100 like I did last night...hehe), you can head down and try your luck at the side shows or even go for a ride on wipeout, cha cha machines or just go for a stroll along the jetty
Awesome venue, I will be going back there and definetly recommend it for everyone

Good review Vic.
Any info on stamp policy? Price of beer, drinks/how many stamps, meals?
Nice work on winning too
(albeit a small venue. lol)

LOL....thanks Matt
OK here is how the stamping policy works....your looking basically on spending around $20
You spend under $5 you get one stamp BUT if you spend $5.10 you get 2 stamps
So basically any spirit with mixer will give you 2 stamps, any pint of beer will give you 2 stamps etc. This works out to approx $3 a stamp which I dont think is too bad. The same works for meals so if you spend $15 or over on a meal you will get 6 stamps. You could get all your cards stamped if you buy a meal and a drink for $20
I managed to stamp up completely on 2 midori & lemonade as well as a gelati and glass of rose, got fed pizza and quadrupled up in my cash so i was happy
BTW I forgot to mention in my earlier post is that you can also buy your drinks in advance.....which is good as you can pace yourself with your drinking over the night
