Aaron, i just re-read the finalised changes to 2009, and it NEVER stated that the regional ftt events were only for regional players. I suggest u read it, and interpret it another way.

Link?

I think if it wasn't stated, it was implied, Marc.

it is only implied if you think of regionals and FTT tourneys being essentially the same thing - which they are *NOT* - i think all of us assumed that they were.

seriously though, what is your problem with other people coming and playing in the regional areas? are you scared that you might not do as well?

This has been covered in the other thread. I'm sick of going over it, and I'm pretty sure everyone else is too.

I honestly think there was a slight miscommunication as well as a misinterpretation from several players.

There was no deception or malcontent planned in any of the material I released.

I have nothing to gain from changing a competition format at this time, it is what it is. And at no time have I ever stated that $1K FTT challenges were strictly open to players from that region.

I think the problem here is a fair bit of assumption on some people's part,

and there is a great line from broken arrow that fits this perfectly

quote john travolta " Assumption is the Mother of all F#$% up's"
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

And I assumed that players would understand the concept.

My Bad.

So do we make FTT $1k events for players of that region only and the $5K FTT event for metro players only?

I think it is a redundant question myself. But I am open to expressions.

i dont mind the idea of the FTTs being open to everyone

i just think that some people (wrongly) assumed that it was region based only, and initially we weren't given any information to the contrary.

now that i think its all sorted, there shouldn't be any troubles in the future

sunbury2 wrote:We used to have huge night in Sunbury when we had 4 venues going, based on the NPL leaderboard and the top 100 were invited to participate in a venue final.

I know I seem to have a lot of ideas but here is another one.
Make the season just 9 weeks. The 10th week is a venue final.
The top 40/50 depending on average number of regular players make it, but also have a side tournment running with players that have not finished high enough. The winner of the side event gets onto the final table of the venue final with a stack equal to double the big blinds.

Money from the regional finals could be given back to the venues.
The winner of the veune event gets a larger venue prize ie $250 instead of $50. and a plague. Anyone who wins and hasn't qualified for the state, also gets into the state final.
Would mean a player who was unable to finish in the top 5 during the season would also be encouraged to play in the venue final.
Also a near guaranteed full house in the last week of the season.

Congratulations Sunbury2 for pointing out the most obvious solution to a problem that we have had since day one. :D

One would think it would be so easy to have preplaned the whole year showing where and when the finals will be played for each season.

So, why haven't NPL taken this idea that appears to be a simple solution to us knowing the time, date and where each the finals will be held???????

I can't wait to see the reply from NPL management. :)

given your self proclaimed business knowledge bob, i am surprised you of all people would think it is "easy" to plan venues for a WHOLE year in advance - how many venues pull out, change nights, cater for weddings, have renovations, have special events, unforseen circumstances...

letting us know a season in advance would be good, a whole year wouldn't be feasible

Why not make it $1k for each region similar to the B&G and other country regions etc????

That way the city guys can have the same $1k in each of their 5 regions and reduce the entry to one FTT per region.

Straddle the FTT games in the metro over one week at selected venues.

Makes good sense to me as there will be more chances to win the $1k and encourage more player to try and win the $1k at the 5 different venues instead of a poor turn out to just one venue.
