I completely disagree.

If you think they're likely to bet, check your little heart out and just keep calling.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

slow playing works sometimes

when i was questioning the slow play, i did make mention that the typical NPL player is loose passive, and is not going to bet if you check to them.

so this is why i said that i would most probably bet and not check

Nice article on the two sides to this story: http://www.pokerlistings.com/strategy/w ... -slow-play

Well, it comes down on the side of you shouldn't do it (too often), but there are times when it is appropriate.

I find it is best to slow play only if a you've got the nuts (or something REALLY strong) involving AAA or better - no one (except maybe me) is betting into you on a board with so many As out there. If you've got an extremely strong hand with less than a set/trips involving an A, then don't bother slow playing it if there is an A on the board - NPL, they're likely to have it :D

So true in many ways rcon. Even PH says you need to mix your play so you don't get into a "I only play good cards" style of player.

Hell I was tighter than a fishes bum hole and made points often. Now I've mixed my game, I'm finding it hard to fold an average hand and have adopted the "KINGY SHOVE" LOL.

I guess that's why I'm going home erlier than expected, LOL.
