nor do a lot of the players at the table. They think they are playing Bingo.

pretty good game last night, especially the second half, wow jesus works well as an impact player, excellent header, not sure about the result with the Bahrain v Qatar game but we only need 1 point in the remaining three games (2 at home) to be guaranteed a spot in South Africa, exciting times for Australian Football

Pete, i want your opinion on the socceroos current formation of 4-5-1 i just dont see it working, McDonald isnt the sort of player like Viduka that has the physicality to play as a lone striker

I reckon a 4-4-2 with maybe Kennedy starting with McDonald might work or Cahill when he's back to full fitness will be playing up forward, a similar role to what he plays at Everton with Yakubu still out

saw the second half of the game - seemed to be dominating them, although from what the commentary was saying, it was a complete turnaround from the first half

soccer nuts, i have a question. in soccer, there seems to be a lot of tactics in waiting until the right time introduce players, so that they "have an impact"

providing the players are fully fit, i dont really see the logic of this. if this player comes on, has an immediate impact and scores a goal, then why couldn't he have done this from the start of the game

why not put kennedy up front from the start? he caused a lot of problems when he came on, and besides the goal he scored, he was pretty close to getting his head on a couple more

why not put him up front from the start and do this the whole game?

the impact player usually comes on about the 60th or 70th minute, he has fresh legs and direct orders from the coach on what he expects him to do etc etc

btw it doesnt always work, we have just been blessed with talent like timmy cahill

sometimes, it just seems a bit wierd to me, almost as if they are starting with their B plan, and only switching to their A plan later in the match

i understand about the fresh etc though

i think injuries also play a part, i bet you my left nut cahill would of come on if it was 0-0 in the 80th minute lol

happens in afl though benny the cunt. When the forward line of henschel wasn't working as well as hoped, he was shifted to the backlines, and Stevens forward. Because the coach has seen what tactic their defence is using and tries to work around it.

Its because of the limited interchanges that its noticed more in football, rather than footy.

you are probably right, its a product of the limited interchanges, and that soccer players are less flexible in the positions they play usually (unless its between midfield spots, or from AM to up front, but usually they aren't as flexible)

now thinking of these so called impact players, there usually starting players that are carrying a small injury and substituting them in for 10-20mins minimises the risk of a recurring injury

its not a product of the limited subs but the coach needing to make a change that will hopefully have a positive impact on the team
