ah, FHM. The beacon of quality journalism.

Graham, even your picture says Melb need all the help they can get.

If you'd merged with the Hawks, you'd have a premiership now :-P

LOL Gundog.

Your last few posts have been the debating equivalent of saying,"Look over there!" and then running away.

To me the most successful clubs are those with the most premierships, not in the VFL/AFL, but in the AFL only (i.e. 1990 onwards).

So the following are the most successful clubs.
Brisbane 3
West Coast 3
Hawthorn 2
Adelaide 2
Essendon 2
North Melbourne 2
Carlton 1
Port Adelaide 1
Geelong 1
Collingwood 1
Sydney 1
Richmond 0
Melbourne 0
Fremantle 0
St.Kilda 0
Western Bulldogs 0

For arguments sake, the tally could look like this:

So based on Macca's views, when you change something even a name all history is wiped out.

ie Woodville/West Torrens have no claim to any of the history of its foundation clubs

When Port Adelaide changed to become Port Adelaide Magpies it lost all it history and premierships.

What about Footscray when it became Western Bulldogs

or

North Melbourne became the Kangaroos

or

South Melbourne became the Sydney Swans

and more recently Brisbane bears merging with the Fitzroy.

Many great South Australians would be offended with your narrow view, these champions made history in the VFL/AFL can you deny Sticks Kernahan, Craig Bradley, The Rat, and many more that their past glory's dont count.

Melbourne was also a great inovator the 1st club to successfully convert 2 youngsters from Gaelic Football one Irish and the other Scottish, both became All Australians and 1 a Brownlow Medalist

Whilst our last flag was in 64, and many reasons why we were in the football wilderness for years was our own fault, but we will again assend the ladder and one day win on the last day in September.

So better than rewriting history, just say thank you for letting your crows join an elite compertition, and when they have 11 premierships like us you will have something to crow about.
