Re: I just like this picture...
Happened to me, just as quick.
I worked for SE Net - at the time, one of the largest and best ISPs in Adelaide.
I had been there a bit over two years, when we all got an email. Half the staff were invited to a staff meeting at 10am. The other half, 11am.
We finished the calls we were on at 10am (the meeting I was in), left our work stations and went into the meeting room.
We were all being made redundant. It was "random". We were being paid out by SE Net for our tenure.. I think I received $7k or something (not really that much but it felt like it at the time).
We left the meeting 30 minutes later and were told our accounts were locked, and PCs turned off. We basically left the meeting, and out the door.
The other half of the staff were told at 11am they were staying. They were happy at the time, though quickly realised that half the staff were going to be doing all the work load!
I felt bad for one girl, who two weeks prior had decided to go to part time, 2 days a week. The boss approved this.. knowing what was about to happen two weeks later.
Her payout? Equivalent weeks to me, except "2 days a week" pay. She was devastated.
Sorry, it's off topic!

I know times are tough, but we probably shouldn't scrimp on some things!
