are the results of the online games going to be up on the 888pl website soon? this might help people realise that its just like any other venue

It all takes time guys. The majority of our players will just be fascinated with playing online and won't care what they are playing for right now.

Results will be online today. I am just waiting to fix a few bugs.

coolies

maybe in the tourney description online it could mention that top 15 get points and each timeslot is a separate venue, top 5 to qualify for the championship series ME?

I think the bold is the most important bit. People will get that, with Top 15 points, it's like a venue.

I'm happy these things are being slowly added in, but FFS it should have been announced prior to asking people to play in them.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Why? It's all there in all of the announcements? We are fully integrated league with points awarded equally for online and in venue activity??

Why do we need to go into so much detail when even the basic information will go over the heads of so many?

Because the basic information wasn't explained in a basic enough manner for the masses (who are basic people) who obviously still have no clue.

The FAQ you made up is good, and I like how it was done so quickly.

But my main point is, if it's not explained in crystal clear fashion BEFORE the thing is launched then it's perhaps not as good as it should be.

No one reads the forum. No one listens to the TD speech.

Garth and co can only do so much.

We were never going to explain it clearly before the launch.

Our contractors were informed of the change two weeks before it was due to occur.

No matter how well we explain it in writing, no matter how many pretty pictures we draw. EDUCATION of a new structure, especially within a rebrand, will take time - hence 15 week seasons to round out the year, hence the huge amount of POS at venue level, hence the training and information sessions conducted for TC's and all staff, hence the member packs.

Our first priority was for players to understand the integration of online and live, after two weeks we start communicating more on the concepts of the competition and what you have to do to win plus the added prizes. Then after that, everyone starts feeling comfortable with it all and the details start to fall into place.

It's simple marketing, we have made huge changes, but for the regular players we have kept as much of the base plan and their foundation exactly the same to what they were used to.

Communication of this nature is not an overnight activity, nor do I expect 100% comprehension after the first week, as I have instructed our contractors, this education process won't take a week or even a month, it is a whole quarter to six months process.

There's no way I'd expect the customers to know everything beforehand, I completely agree that's not going to happen.

And yes Aaron that's true however there's a difference in the information being there and being accessable and in people just choosing not to listen/read/whatever. Clearly, for the latter of those two I agree it's stiff cheese for them and they should pay attention.

However, simple stuff like knowing wtf you're competing for at any given time (not just the big prizes) should be educated upon a reasonable time in advance so people know if they even want to go in it or not!

Your best option of actually having this happen certainly is not having it come from a TD for reasons Aaron already pointed out. Not to mention they're all going to explain it differently with varying levels of clairty and if they can even be bothered or not.

This pretty much leaves online via emails or main website or forum. The advantage you have there is everybody gets the SAME message and if you have it all there well enough in advance (in this case I don't think that has happened) then it would certainly be correct to say you've done everything necessary and it's hardly your fault from then on if someone has chosen not to bother.

Maybe you misunderstand my previous comments.

We were NEVER going to release this information well in advance. This is by choice and we have our reasons for this decision.

We did communicate via email, not thoroughly but it was at least an introduction to the concepts surrounding the new league. Sent to 26,000 email; 12% of which were read.

What more could we have said in the news stories or emails that wouldn't have been information overload. And as it stands the communication we have sent out has been more than effective, especially with the fields we are seeing after 48 hours of launch.

If people want to jump online and play, just for the hell of it, and they don't care what they are playing for, I am not going to begrudge them anything. It says to me that they love playing poker and want to play online under a league they trust and have experience with.
