My venue has its fair shair of poorer thinkers ( for lack of a better term), so much so that this venue has a pretty bad reputation in the district.
Krunchie has left himself wide open for a comment withe the 1st line of his post but I wont take a cheap shot.
Yes he is in the pack of better players at the venue, he presents an ultra tight image whilst at the felt, rarely will he go to final table as chip leader but is almost in the points every game, he plays the short stack very well.
Playing non thinking players can present problems for him when he's at final table, often he cracked by that type of player.
Like Krunchie explained the rep of our venue was poor because of the sheer volume of non thinking players, in saying that the venue standard has lifted, with a lot of the crap shoot players learnig to play better poker and others no longer playing.
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Another hand with more bingo:
Me (Button) AsJh
4 out of 7 people call BB (Right...)
I raise to 135.
SB folds.
Everyone else in the hand calls (Righteo then...)
Pot 825
Flop 8s 7d Jd
Checks around to me, I raise to 888.
Pearlypuff calls.
Pot 2601
Turn 5s
Pearlypuff checks, I raise to 946.
River 6s
Pearlypuff checks, I check.
What did she have? 7s 9c to make the straight.
So preflop: 79o makes a call
Flop: With a pair of sevens makes the call (65% for me to win 34% for Pearlypuff to win)
Turn: Still with a pair of sevens makes the call (odds 70-30 in my favour)
BINGO!

Cue standard response to bad beat whinge.
"boo hoo you lost, yes you were a big favourite, but in the long run you want people putting their money in way behind. so suck it up. if you can't handle bad luck then don't play poker"
Havng said that, i should tell you about this idiot i was playing against last night.....

The point is you could train a monkey to play better poker than this. Noone in their right mind would play this hand. What was her read? I had 2 5 offsuit?
Funny thing is she'll probably make the state finals or the Grand Final. She might even consider turning professional.

Re: Why don't you change the name of the league?
you just know they are going to call preflop, so i reckon you should have bet more.
i would hvae gone to 300-500 and try and get heads up with soemone
beating fishes multiway is hard, isolate them and it becomes a lot easier

Well from what I have seen people are prepared to call 300-500 preflop and even up to 1000 with what an above average player would consider a random hand (like 79o).
Even at that price AJo is not worth it because as I have mentioned before it is equally likely that someone has AQ/AK as they have 79o.
So then you say push on the flop but you are not getting any info on the strength of oppositions hand. So you make a 3/4 of pot bet. You get a call, put them either on a flush draw with 2 diamonds or maybe, but very unlikely given pre-flop action and 888pl players tendencies to push all in with pocket 3s, an over pair.
2 pair is possible on the flop but I don't think they would check 2 pair or even a set for that matter. Just a ridiculous play...

Hand history and more data would help, but if I get this right blinds are 25/50.
By the time it is your turn to act the pot is worth 275? And you decide to raise to 135?
You are offering everyone in this hand pot odd of 85 to win 410? almost 5 to 1 on their money?
Who isn't calling this preflop, and as soon as BB calls everyone else is priced in.
Pot on the flop = 835?
You overbet the flop to 888, to many novice players this reads as a missed c bet trying to close the pot off now - people read overbets or pot sized bets of this nature as a scared bet, their opponent wants to close the pot off. Your opponent in this hand has decided to float you here with mid pair, not an awful move.
You then fire 946 into a pot worth 2611? On the turn is when you should move all in, keep up the aggression, the fact you overbet flop then value the turn on a nothing card is just playing the hand backwards.
And then the lucky river hits, ul. But your opponent has every right to be in this hand after a weak raise on the button and floating the flop with mid pair.

Frustrated: Would you limp in from UTG with A9 off suit?
I probably wouldn't.
I probably wouldn't.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Re: Why don't you change the name of the league?
Blinds are 15/30 a few hands into todays bounty event.
Pot is 165 when it gets to me so I raise to 135 thats 105 to call for a pot of 240 meaning pot odds of just over 2 to 1. AJo while somewhat strong is not the best starting hand by a long way. In a major MTT I would generally never raise with AJo preflop - probally call 80% of the time, raise 20% of the time. But probably should have raise to about 170-200 here.
So yes pot stands at 825 on the turn. Checks to me. Now I know it seems like I make an error here but this is where I am trying to adapt my game to the league. Usually a c bet is warranted, but I overbet to try to get rid of at least a few of the preflop players who, I think it's fair to say, played with not much. Still the bet is probably too large but that was my rationale.
The run bet was where I was a touch worried that this person called. A flopped set and two pair has me beat here. I wouldn't push all in here and risk it. Perhaps a bet around 1300 would've been better here.
