doesn't matter anyway. as i said, i hope aaron wins it, i really do.

And why can't a weekly satellite be for points as well? Top 5 will qualify for Foundation freeroll.

I do not understand the logic behind these comments except for the fact that is a regular large field and it weighs heavily in the averages?

you are right, its the field size that i have an issue with.

top 5 out of a regular field of 400 seems a bit silly to me though.

i want to stress that i am not annoyed or anything. i just really hope it doesn't affect the scoreboard placings that much.

I can see the two sides of the argument here and both are equally valid.

Personally I don't think that the GF freeroll should be used for leaderboards. My logic is as follows: The rationale behind the leaderboard is to reward players who perform consistently well. A single result in the GF freeroll would so heavly sway averages that one player who has performed consistently better than another player may find themselves lower on the leaderboard due the the other player having a single success in the GF freeroll.

Example:
Mr Consitent has an average of 100 made up of 15 scores ranging between 90 and 150.

Mr Hit and Miss has an average of 110 made up of one big score on the GF freeroll and scores ranging between 60 and 90.

So Mr Consistent has done consistently well and misses out on the Dreamteam scoreboard even though he has performed better.

Solutions

1.) Do not award points for GF freerolls.

2.) Cap the points available on GF freerolls.

3.) Probably a solution for future points systems: The total points on offer for any given game is calculated as follows:
Number of Players*Points Base Per Player
Then the points would be distributed as if it were a monetary prize. So for up to 50 players 1st gets 40%, 2nd gets 25% etc.

Example: GF freeroll has 400 players and say we deicide the points base to be 5 points per player. Total points pool is 400 * 5 = 2000 points. Points to be distrubted as it would in a cash tourney on 888 with 40 players getting points, 1st 25%, 2nd 15%, 3rd 10% and so on.

So if you came 3rd you would get 10% of 2000 points, ie. 200. If you came 40th you would get 1% 20.

Food for thought - let's discuss.

PokerStars has a more complicated but essentially the same system for their leaderbaords points system:

The top 15% of finishers in each event will receive points towards the PokerStars Tournament Leader Board standings, based on the number of entrants, the tournament buy-in, and place of finish.

Note: "Sit & Go" tournaments with less than 40 players, satellite tournaments, heads-up tournaments, shootout tournaments, restricted-entry tournaments, private tournaments, play money tournaments and VIP Freerolls do not count towards the rankings.

Only your 10 best results will be counted for the weekly rankings, 20 best results for the monthly rankings, and 100 best results for the yearly rankings.

The formula used to determine the total points awarded to a player (in the top 15% of finishers) for any given tournament is:

Points = 10 * [sqrt(n)/sqrt(k)] * [1+log(b+0.25)]

Where:

n is the number of entrants
k is the place of finish (k=1 for the first-place finisher, and so on)
b is the buy-in amount in dollars (excluding administrative fee). For freerolls the buy-in is $0, and for FPP tournaments 1 FPP is counted as $0.0161.

Instead of buy-in, we would use substitute points base per player. Think of it as each player buys into a freeroll with a certain number of points.

why shouldnt they

if they are good enough or even lucky enough to win a big tourney good luck too them.

Answer me this benny the cunt, who won last years WSOP player of the year, i bet most people cant, but we all know who won the main event.

why shouldnt 1 win get you recognition, fame fortune and all the other perks that come from winning.
I and i feel similarly about this argument.
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Erick Lindgren.

I assume youre talking about the WSOP ME win compared to a GF win. These are two completely different scenarios.

winning a season long leaderboard on the back of 1 result is different to winning that tourney

I knew it was Lindgren too and should be an Aussie this year with Lisandro breaking all sort of records. I actually forget the name of the guy who won. Was it some young dude?
