Re: AVS
Gundog: AVG love people like you. Just because you can't see something, doesn't mean nothing is happening. Have some faith in those that know what they're talking about. Most of the people I have to endure on a daily basis use lines like that all the time. "I haven't had a problem in <x> years" gets a prompt reply of "well the netstat command I just made you type is telling me you currently have many hundreds of problems and they had to start sometime".
AJG: The fact that you feel the need to use other bits of software as well as AVG indicates it's not as good as it should be. I will agree though that it's probably the better of the free ones. So yes, if a person was to insist on not paying anything - and was also happy to accept that it's very simply not the best product out there and they may still have problems - then AVG is for them.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Re: AVS
Pete you assume a lot of things, about 8 years ago I got out the computor industry for a number of reasons.
The best anti-virus software company in the world was an Australian company, VET prior to is sale to CA it ran rings around Norton MacAfee"s Trend and any other AV program available.
For about 50 bucks a year you can get a 3 seat licence direct from the CA Vet web site http://www.vet.com.au/Default.aspx?sc_lang=en-AU
Nortons is the biggest bucket of Puss out and MacAfee's started out like AVG a free program after it gained popularity they made you pay for it.
When companies like Nortons and MacAfee's bundle their software with new pc's you should ask how good it it actually.

42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Re: AVS
Computer Associates fucked up Vet.
Was good, YEARS ago.
AVG isn't my favourite free AV, probably AVAST would take that mantle.
But if there's anything I would buy for my PC it's virus protection. The rest, I'll happily pirate
Oh, and good luck installing another virus scanner after uninstalling AVG - AVG leaves so many parts of itself on the system.

Re: AVS
After restarting my PC last night, it's all working fine now.
Think Adam had some outages last night too, which confused me.
I'll appraise Kaspersky after the 28 days left.

I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

Re: AVS
It's great... I hope you like it.
I have two copies of it at home actually - OEM, all ready to "sell" as such.
$40 is nothing over a year, for this level of protection.
