Thank you AJG

for your I nTteresting post/s

I feel alot better after reading this , it is some comfort to me knowing of your defeat, as I too this very night recieved AK after betting a flop of A, K Q was shown .

Betting proceeded to my caller forcing a ' allin play by myself.

Venue Manager shows Q, Q and moves on to play for more of my cash.

Turn and River = zilch ..Bye Bye Brucie.

Embrace the Variance you may say..

in my last six games in the last two days 4 of exits have me holding the highest two pair and my victor hitting trips on the river card .

any advice/ comment on playing high two pair would be appreciated...

there is an old card playing adeage

' Beware the two pair "

old adeages do seem still apply :

Another thing to consider is your table image or why that player would want to pull a semi stop n go in this situation.

The play is extremely standard, not just for 888PL but for most online tournaments. Most players will open or limp shove with this hand from UTG in online tournaments across all sites.

It's a cooler, they happen.

Reverse the action. And be realistic.

You have pockets 6's, Someone has raised to 4.5 K, respective stack sizes are 26 and 27k Respectively.

Your opponent is considered to be a smart player but hasn't played some hands for at least 10 minutes.

What does the over raise mean?

Do you call?

Flop comes AK6. You lead out a strong warning bet, he pushes over the top. Do you call, fold?

This is an interesting one. If you can accurately put someone on AK/AQ/AJ then calling a 4.5BB raise to see the flop is not a bad idea. If the flop comes out 2 8 10 then you can bet hard at it. If it comes out with a flush or straight draw you can represent that. If it comes with Ace/K/Q high then fold. The problem is how do you know that the other person does not have AA/QQ/KK?

I think the worst part of the whole play is the villian pushing. Unless he has a very accurate read on hero having AQ/AK - he could be up against KK or less likely but possible AA. And doesn't that fit in with the overbet on the flop? I would have flatted the heros raise and tried to keep the pot as small as possible. If hero pushes on the turn on river - I am thinking with a set of 6, despite the possibility of hero having KK AA the pot odds justify a call? Then Hero woulda lost anyway.

That's actually the best thing he could've done. Hero does not put villian on a set of 6s after that push.

Also, the money is ALWAYS going in here. If he had Aces or Kings, he has it. 888pl players will make the same raise from the same position with as worse as A8 here - and STILL get it all in on the flop.

IMHO you are all overthinking it.

It's pretty standard, you limp UTG, folds to BB who raises, what do you do?

You flat wanting to see a flop as a flop contains a lot of options for you depending on it's texture, and most flops will present a possibility of taking down the pot against a nit.
You don't fold, you can shove and race, but you have position. So flat is the best option especially against a tight passive player.

Once you hit your set, you are never getting away from it, with a raise of that nature out of the BB in a heads up situation I am never putting an opponent on AA or KK. More likely to be 22 - 88 possibly up to JJ and Big Aces. That raise says to me I am worried about my hand strength and i do not want to go to a flop.

So standard that I cannot believe this thread is two pages long and for anyone who says "why didn't he fold, what an idiot" I suggest you take up another game, like cluedo or monopoly or something.
